It’s here—new places & spaces The Johnson County Library’s expansion
project is complete, with only some shelving
to be assembled and the last books to be put
into place.
The added 10,000 square feet and renovated
8,000 square feet of the existing 1988
structure offers a variety of services to the
public. One of the most drastic changes is to
the former Fiction shelving area, which is
now home to our reading room. All the
magazines and newspapers, along with
paperback novels, are kept in here and
visitors have been making use of this quiet
space.
Our public meeting room has already been busy, with at least a handful of uses scheduled every
week. At 1,350 square feet it is nearly double the size of our old meeting room—which is still
available to rent. Foldable tables and nesting chairs make for easy setup and breakdown. Most recently

Safety for our Patrons: Library installs security cameras
With a larger building and greater area to cover, the Johnson County Library
board of trustees and the county commissioners have opted to install a security
camera network inside and outside the building. As stated in our new policy—
which will be soon posted on our website www.jclwyo.org—“Security cameras

Congratulations to our top readers in
the Teen Summer Reading Program:
Holly Qualm and Olivia Zink
Holly read 60 hours Olivia read 58,
which means together these two girls
read almost 10 percent of the 700
hours the teens involved in summer
reading accumulated. Well done!

the room played host to the Teen
Summer Reading finale in which
the teens tried out our new board
games and enjoyed pizza.
Work continues on shelving our
nonfiction collection in its new
home, which is actually not far
from where it was once located.
Library Director Cynthia Twing
and a host of volunteers have been
diligently sorting and arranging the
books.
The teen area now boasts plenty
of seating, as well as a collection of
fun board games. Books and
graphic novels are spread out on
display.
The children’s room has several
fun and comfortable seating
arrangements for children and their
parents, as well as tables of building
blocks and puzzles. Parents can also
check out a pair of tablets pre-
loaded with games.
