Novels by Carr and Azuela

Azuela represented Mexicorsquos unstable government through the Chronologybull Zapata Diaz Obregon and

Carranzarsquos conflict for power Now although Mexico

does not have the most stable government in place there are not anymore assassinations and new heads in power from violence

Carr represents New Yorkrsquos old ways through characters places and how the plot plays out

Carr expresses a lot of problems going on in the last years of 1800rsquos without explicitly going into detail and the reader must pick up the hintsbull One such example is his

address of the crookedness of the NYPD of the time

Both Azuela and Carr rely heavily on history although the novels are fictional
