Be ready:

In order for your book club meetings to be fruitful, you must be prepared to talk about your book on both a literal and figurative level. Book club meetings are about unpacking the meanings in your book and making connections to themes in the world around us. Be sure you have read and thought before your meeting

Say something:

In every meeting, you are expected to speak and contribute to the conversation in a meaningful way. This means coming prepared with questions and with moments you have noticed in the book.

For every meeting:

you will read a passage from the novel that stood out to you

you will have some notes prepared

you speak, ask, and answer questions in respect to the text

make connections to the ‘real’ world

Notes to bring:

1. One passage to read that stood out to you and what you want to say about it

2. Two questions about the content of what you read

3. Two images/ symbols that stood out and your thoughts or questions about them

4. Themes and big ideas you notice being developed

5. One connection to the real world be it personal, political, or media
