Surf Awareness Report: Year 6 went to Coffs
Harbour Jetty Beach last Friday. The sun was
shining and it was a fantastic day, despite the rain
forecast! Year 6 were taught first aid by surf
lifesavers Michael and Jack, learning about
DRABC and practising CPR on their buddies.
Students also learnt how to identify a rip and
where they are more likely to occur. Surf Groms
life savers then demonstrated how to move from
their bellies to standing on a surf board on the
beach. Students were then able to take their skills
to test on the water. Most students managed to
catch a wave, if not enjoy a paddle in the surf.
They then enjoyed a pizza picnic lunch, thanks to
the P&C. To end the magnificent day, students
enjoyed a quick dip off the Jetty wharf. Thank you
parents and families who transported students to
and from the Jetty. Also, a special thanks to Mick
and Jack from Surf Groms for the wonderful day!
Christmas Carols was an amazing experience
for our school choir on Saturday evening. We
joined the Coffs Harbour Public Schools
combined Choir at the Coffs Harbour Carols by
Candlelight at Brelsford Park. Luckily we beat the
rain. Unfortunately a few of our choir members did
not make it as the organisers pushed the schools’
choir through an hour early due to the weather.
Congratulations Bonville School Choir and thank
you Miss Tanis for all of the hard work and
dedication that you have put into our wonderful
choir and making sure they were ready for the big
night.

Mr Burkitt’s Message
Final week of 2019 school year is now upon us. The last day for students will be Wednesday 19th December and the teachers will have two more days of learning and preparing for 2019, finishing on Friday 21st December. Hopefully the weather clears up for the big day out on Wednesday.
Presentation evening was held last Thursday night at the Bonville International Golf Club. I believe we had somewhere in the vicinity of 160 parents, grandparents, uncles and aunties present which ensured that our students’ achievements were well received and they gained the recognition for their efforts. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. A special thank you to Mrs Hunter for her wonderful organisation.
School maintenance will occur during the holidays. Many of our walkway posts will be replaced and a fence separating the car park will also be erected. The new school Public Address System and the school Wi-Fi upgrade will also be installed during this time. We also have a company investigating our school septic system ensuring that it not only functions properly to meet the needs of our present school population but also the Bonville Public students of the future. Please keep an eye out for anything suspicious in and around the school grounds during the holidays. If you can't contact me then please either contact the police and/or the School security hotline.
Our Choir combined with other school choirs and they performed superbly on Saturday night in front of thousands of people. Thanks to those parents and Miss Tanis for getting your children there. A special thanks to Brock Janssen, music teacher at Toormina High, for his outstanding efforts.
Congratulations to Toormina High School achieving the greatest improvement in the 2019 HSC results of all the local High Schools. Great news for us as they are our local public high school
Bonville's Got Talent will take place in the Bonville School Hall commencing at 11:30am and finishing at 1:00pm. I am sure that this will be very entertaining in one way or another.
School returns for students on Wednesday 30th January, 2019. On behalf of all of the school staff may you all have a wonderful holiday break. We hope that every one has a safe, enjoyable vacation and returns to school in 2019 ready for a great year of learning and growing.
Thank you for supporting and caring for our school and children.
