This Saturday was the start of the Eastern Suburbs Interschool Netball Competition for 2019. The weather held for the first day of competition with 900 primary school students from local public and catholic schools taking to the Waverley Netball courts.

Bondi Beach Public School have a very impressive 12 teams competing this year from Year 2 right up to our 2 Year 6 teams, the Pearls and the Barnacles who will be vying for a chance to win the prestigious Premier Division Trophy.

The Bondi Besties played their first game of the season on Saturday and stormed away with a 12/0 win. The Besties moved the ball quickly through the court with their fast and accurate passing and player of the match Evie was able to swish the ball through the net to score points. Well done Besties, superb teamwork and a great start to the new season.

Ocean Lovers' FestivalWhat a wonderful event - the Ocean Lovers' Festival - organised on the first weekend of the holidays! It was a fantastic festival featuring numerous activities, presentations, films, interactive learning sessions and lots more. It was an enormous project largely lead and directed by one of our school parents, Anita Kolni - Maya, Will and Charlie's mum.

There was an ocean lovers' lap, swum at North Bondi - the aim was a Guinness World Record number of swimmers wearing recycled swim caps, who swam out to a buoy and back.

It was so great to see a number of BBPS students (and parents) attend and participate in some of the events! Some swam the Ocean Lovers' lap and many contributed to the enormous Origami Whale wall. Lots of folding and significant messages written on their whales.

Thank you to all of those students who came to enjoy and contribute to the fun.
