You can make a checklist of what to pack. You may even consult
those friends that made a similar journey. If you are meticulous,
you will read that robust guide book from cover to cover. Yet no amount
of research and extensive travel planning will prepare you for
THE SHEER WONDER OF ALASKA.
THIS IS THE LAST FRONTIER,
untouched by the modern world and still vastly undiscovered.
And you can be at the center of its
IMPOSSIBLE BEAUTY AND DRAMATIC CONTRASTS —
between ice fields and rainforests, under eagles soaring above
and salmon spawning just below the surface, and witnessing
the treacherous trail that intrepid stampeders braved
at the turn of the 20th century, while you
ENJOY EVERY COMFORT IMAGINABLE,
WITH EVERY LUXURIOUS AMENITY INCLUDED.
This is not a conventional vacation, which is why it’s perfect for you:
the NATURE LOVER, the ADVENTURER, the WILDLIFE SEEKER
and the person responsible for the next collection of travel memories
you will share with the ones you love.
Let the journey begin with Regent Seven Seas Cruises.®
4
FOR THE
NATURE LOVER
THE LAST FRONTIER is not
just the state nickname. More than
580,000 square miles make up the
49th state and it remains generally
unpopulated and very much roadless,
making it the perfect destination
to be explored by sea. Each day
Seven Seas Mariner® brings you closer to
remote towns where wildflowers
tower just as tall as the mountains
in the distance and lush, rain-drenched
forests give way to breathtaking
views of magnificent glaciers.
With both volcanoes and tundras,
and more than 3 million lakes, this is
the embodiment of the great outdoors,
where you can slip into your most
comfortable walking shoes, go forth
toward the unknown and be in awe at
every turn. This land is a misty
wilderness and even when the sun
pierces through the clouds, it is
impossible to know what is beyond
the horizon, which is why with our
FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions
you can explore it all.
5
WALKING THROUGH RAINFORESTSAt nearly 17 million acres, the Tongass National Forest is America’s largest, stretching
the entire length of Alaska’s Inside Passage and easily accessible from Sitka and
Ketchikan. Take in the beautiful tranquility of this rainforest as you make your way
through the wilderness, admiring the ancient, giant trees. Walk to a cascading
waterfall, where a viewing platform allows you to appreciate the abundant water
and wildlife. You might also be able to enjoy a salmonberry or blueberry in season.
FLOATING ON RIVERSAlaska’s rivers and lakes are surrounded by towering mountains,
roaring waterfalls, hanging glaciers and pristine, unspoiled nature.
The Chilkat River in Haines — which you can reach by ferry from Skagway
as part of an excursion — is not only one of the most picturesque, but also
has the most active wildlife. If your itinerary calls on Wrangell, be sure to visit
the Stikine River, considered one of the last truly wild rivers in North America.
Famed American naturalist, John Muir, described it as a 100-mile-long Yosemite
and upon your visit, you will be treated to a truly unforgettable experience.
SAILING ALONG FJORDSWhat better way to take in the fresh mountain air, eagle calls and breathtaking
scenery than by journeying to an alpine lake next to a remote fjord. Misty Fjords
National Monument near Ketchikan is home to some of the most spectacular scenery
in Alaska. Boasting 2.3 million acres, you can get a good look at its majestic fjords,
cascading waterfalls, jewel-like lakes and abundant wildlife from the air, land and sea.

The first time you hear it, it’s startling. It sounds like a cannon shot in the distance.
And then you see the edge of ice on Hubbard Glacier
fall into the sea and you wait with anticipation for the next bang.
IN AWE OF GLACIERSThis is the whole reason why you’re here, to see Juneau’s star attraction,
Mendenhall Glacier. This massive river of compressed blue ice is the largest,
most rugged glacier accessible by road. But once you are at the foot of this
imposing mountain, it will become apparent that this is just the tip of what
Juneau has to offer. Witness the deep crevasses and azure blue meltwater pools
of the Hole-in-the-Wall Glacier, the advancing Taku Glacier, the retreating
Norris Glacier and the East and West Twin Glaciers. And that’s just Juneau.
In Skagway, you can see the jagged peaks towering over the Chilkat Glacier, cascading
waterfalls surrounding the Ferebee Glacier and the spectacular river of ice known as
the Meade Glacier. You may even embark a 31-foot canoe for a voyage of discovery
among icebergs before reaching the face of the mighty blue Davidson Glacier.
This is only to be outdone by your Captain navigating your ship up Yakutat Bay and
bringing you face-to-face with Hubbard Glacier. Whether you choose to take in the
sight from the outer decks, the cozy lounges or the privacy of your suite’s balcony,
this is an image that you won’t need a photo to remember for the rest of your life.
FOR THE
NATURE LOVER
7
TRACY ARM FJORD
You could sleep in – or you could be among the intrepid
explorers boarding a high-speed catamaran that comes
alongside Seven Seas Mariner® early one morning with
its course set toward the Tracy Arm wilderness area for an
expansive close-up view of the majestic Sawyer Glacier.
Take in spectacular vistas, feel the mist on your face from
a plunging waterfall and listen to the crash of immense spires
of ice falling into the sea – that is when you’re not
photographing wildlife, such as bald eagles or harbor seals.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
Nature lovers enjoy FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions and optional Regent Choice tours that offer unique opportunities to explore Alaska’s magnificent landscape. Visit RSSC.com/Excursions for details.

ALASKA IS A LAND OF ADVENTURE. Its vast expanses
and pristine wilderness inspire even
the most non-outdoorsy to not only
get outside, but to also embrace their
inner adventurer. This is the vacation
to try those activities you have only
dreamed of doing, like zip-lining
through a forest or taking a helicopter
to the top of a glacier.
Perhaps there are some adventures
you were not even aware existed, like
cycling through coastal tidal flats or
off-roading on a volcanic island. Endless
activities await to be conquered, and
at the end of your day, you may relax
and recharge at the onboard Canyon
Ranch SpaClub® to get you ready for
your next great adventure.
FOR THE
ADVENTURER
When you are in a place so beyond ordinary it brings out a different
side of you. Perhaps a side you didn’t know was in you. You always say
that you don’t like heights, yet here you are, gliding across the treetops
attached to a zip line with your arms spread out like wings.
9
COASTING ON FLOATPLANES AND HELICOPTERSEven long-time Alaskans are awestruck by the view from the air.
Whether you are flightseeing on a floatplane or a helicopter, there’s
not a bad seat in the house. Flying high above wetland habitat, alpine ridges
and lush rainforests of Juneau, you will gain a new appreciation for this rugged land
as your pilot shares a lively narrative. As you approach the ice field and its
many glaciers, you will marvel at the twisted spires, deep blue crevasses
and carved peaks that comprise this ancient landscape.
SETTING OUT ON HIKES AND CLIMBSEnjoy magnificent panoramic views of the islands of Southeast Alaska
and revel in the majesty of a pristine wilderness trail on a hike in the high country
of Wrangell or trek Mt. Dewey. In Skagway, you can scale the Klondike alongside
an experienced rock climbing guide that will tailor your climb to your ability. Enjoy
stunning aerial views of the Skagway River, White Pass Yukon Route Railway and the
surrounding wilderness at the top, before an exhilarating rappel to the ground.
GLIDING ON KAYAKSEven if you are cruising to Alaska, climbing into a kayak takes your water exploration
to a whole new level, eye-level. Paddle your stable, yet nimble kayak, along
North Douglas Island near Juneau and get a sense of how the famed Aleut Tribe
traveled the coastal waterways of Alaska. You can silently approach any wildlife
feeding in the Mendenhall Wetlands where, weather permitting, you may
have the opportunity to view the Mendenhall Glacier in the distance. If your
itinerary calls on Wrangell, you may launch your kayak from a remote clearing
at the water’s edge and set out on a route that takes you around two
small islands where curious seals play and eagles soar overhead.

EXPLORING ON BIKESBreathe in the crisp, clean Alaskan air while on an unforgettable bike ride. En route
take in stunning views and photo opportunities of the Pacific Ocean, Silver Bay and
the mountainous backdrop as you cycle through Sitka. In Skagway take a bicycle ride
through the rainforest, the Chilkoot trailhead and the coastal tidal flats where eagles,
salmon, colorful wildflowers and dazzling mountains are often in view.
OFF-ROADING ON AN ATVAre you ready for fun? Enjoy an exciting ride in the Alaskan wilderness on a
two-person ATV as you off-road through Kruzof Island from Sitka. Your guides will
lead your group on an exhilarating ride across this lush temperate rainforest filled
with Alaska’s beautiful vegetation and wild flowers. This is a great place to look for
Alaskan brown bears and Sitka black tail deer; in addition your guides will help
you spot marine life that may include whales, seals, sea otters and sea birds.
SOARING ON ZIP LINESWalk the raised balance beams, cross the suspension bridges and fly through the air
on a series of zip lines at the Klondike Adventure Park in Skagway. Your heart will be
pumping as you prepare yourself for the free-fall start of the Walk the Plank zip line
that zooms through the treetops high above the ground. If your itinerary includes Icy
Strait, you can take this exhilarating adventure to the next level on the world’s largest
ZipRider with a launching platform 1,300 feet above sea level. The ride down is more
than a mile long with a plummeting vertical drop. It’s as close to flying as you will
ever come and if your eyes are still open, you will be able to take in sweeping views.
FOR THE
ADVENTURER
11
REELING IN THE CATCH OF THE DAY
Adventurers who like to fish will be hard-pressed to
find a more voracious feeding ground than Alaska.
Go fishing for halibut in Icy Strait where catching a
100-pounder isn’t unusual. Imagine the thrill of hooking
one of these monster fish and reeling it in from the depths.
In Sitka try your hand at salmon sport fishing as you troll by
downrigger, in Juneau you can go fly fishing at the Tongass,
and in Wrangell you can compete for the biggest catch of the
day while fishing the Inside Passage.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
Adventurers revel in exhilaration and thrills that are only possible in Alaska with a vast menu of FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions and optional Regent Choice tours. Visit RSSC.com/Excursions for details.

WHERE ELSE CAN YOU SEE
sea otters, whales, sea lions, brown
bears, deer, bald eagles and a variety of
marine birds — all in a span of a few
hours? Wildlife is abundant throughout
Alaska, from Dall sheep high in the
alpine basin to Harbor seals that like to
sun themselves on ice floes.
Of course, animals in the wild have their
own schedules and routines, so you’re
never guaranteed to see them. Luckily,
your Destination Services team works
closely with tour operators and
naturalists to put together excursions
filled with wildlife-viewing spots along
the Inside Passage.
FOR THE
WILDLIFE SEEKER
You can expect to see bears on a bear viewing excursion and bald eagles at the Raptor Center. Yet
your most memorable moments are when a moose wanders onto the golf course, a seal poses for your photo at the pier and your Captain announces that there
are orcas off the starboard side of Seven Seas Mariner®.
13
BIRDING ACROSS ALASKAMore than 400 species of birds make their way through Alaska.
Wherever you are, just look up and you are certain to see one soaring across the sky.
When you’re in Sitka make your way to the volcanic coastline of Kruzof Island
where sea birds nest and fly into sea caves and puffins burrow at the foot
of the cliffs. From Skagway, you can make your way to Haines, known for being
the heart of the Valley of Eagles and visit the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.
VIEWING BEARSDid you know bears are most active in August? Did you also know that grizzlies
live in Alaska’s inland regions, brown bears prefer the coast and black bears live in
forested areas because they are quite the tree climbers? The best way to learn about
these impressive animals is to get up close…safely. Journey to Prince of Wales Island
from Ketchikan and once your floatplane lands on the water, you’ll be just a few steps
away from witnessing black bears readying themselves for winter with fresh salmon.

FOR THE
WILDLIFE SEEKER
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH BALD EAGLES
While in Alaska, you are very likely to see a bald eagle soaring
overhead, but rarely will they be as close to you as at the Alaska
Raptor Center in Sitka. This is the best way to observe these
magnificent birds and learn more about how to protect them.
The Center provides medical treatment to injured birds of
prey and then releases them back into the wild. During your
visit, a wildlife interpreter will guide you through the Bald
Eagle Flight Building, and introduce you to some of the
“raptors in residence” perched in outdoor habitats.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
You will never be closer to wildlife than in Alaska. Take advantage of both FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions and optional Regent Choice tours that offer unforgettable experiences. Visit RSSC.com/Excursions for details.
15
SPOTTING SEA OTTERSWhen in Sitka, you must look for sea otters. The area’s most unique creature
is a huge part of the history of this region. Sea otters were near extinction at the
hands of Russian fur hunters in the early-1800s, as fur was the first important
commodity exported from Alaska, before gold or oil. This gentle creature was nearly
wiped out during the sea otter trade, and even today they are rare.
A HUMPBACK’S BREATHA humpback’s breath is nowhere near minty fresh. However, being so close to this
magnificent creature is worth every nose-pinching moment. From Anchorage,
you can cruise along Resurrection Bay, within the Kenai Fjords National Park,
and see humpbacks feeding in the sound, as well as in the bays of Sitka and
Icy Strait. Among the most exciting places to whale watch are the waters of
Frederick Sound and Stephens Passage near Juneau. They are uniquely rich in
plankton and fish making this world-renowned area a favored summer feeding
ground for humpback whales and orcas. You will be amazed by the gracefulness
of these ocean giants as they slowly arc their massive tail flukes into the air
and often come close enough to hear — and smell their breath.

FOR THE
FAMILY
WATCH THEIR FACES LIGHT UP at sighting a family of
black bears feeding along the salmon
streams. Together, explore the waters
surrounding Wrangell in a canoe, and
enjoy a thrilling dogsled adventure near
Juneau. Snap a family photo with the
magnificent Hubbard Glacier in the
background and relive the adventure
of the Gold Rush in Skagway, as you
compete to see which one of you will
find gold in the river. Back on board, the
younger travelers will make new friends
at Club Mariner — and when they ask if
it’s okay to invite every last one of their
“besties” to dinner, it’s perfectly fine,
because it’s all included. These are just a
few of the memories you will make on
your next family vacation in Alaska
aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises®.
Of course you will have a great time. But your real sense of enjoyment will
come in knowing that they are having the time of their lives. Whether you
are learning a traditional dance or riding aboard a train that runs along the edge of the world, these
moments will be your legacy.
17
LEARNING ABOUT TRADITIONSFor generations, Tlingit villages have maintained a tradition of welcoming visitors
in regal style and at Saxman, near Ketchikan, your family will receive this
same time-honored welcome. Just like the traditions you may have in your family,
in this native community, tribal elders have worked hard to pass on
many stories and rituals you will witness during your visit.
RIDING ON THE WHITE PASSBuilt in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush of Skagway, this narrow-gauge railroad
is an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The train climbs almost
3,000 feet in just 20 miles, and features steep grades and cliff-hanging turns.
Along the way, take in a panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls,
tunnels, trestles and historic sites from the comfort of your vintage parlor car.
SAVORING THE SALMONYou simply cannot make it all the way to Juneau and miss out on the
famed Gold Creek Salmon Bake. Your mouth-watering, all-you-can-eat feast
takes place in the middle of the forest, with views of a nearby waterfall
and entertainment provided by local musicians — all while you indulge on wild
Alaskan-caught salmon grilled over an open wood fire right before your eyes.

FOR THE
FAMILY
MUSHING A SLED
You’re speeding through the Alaskan forest, sitting on a sled
that’s being pulled by some of Alaska’s most powerful athletes.
This is dog sledding—and it’s not only an Alaskan tradition,
but also a state obsession, one that’s celebrated every March
with the Iditarod Sled Dog Race from Anchorage to Nome.
On a dogsledding excursion, from Anchorage, Denali and
Juneau, you’ll meet Iditarod racers and their dogs whose
cold noses are sure to warm your family’s heart.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME
Share the experience of learning about the culture and traditions of Alaska when your family embarks on FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions and optional Regent Choice tours. Visit RSSC.com/Excursions for details.
19
TELLING THE TALES OF THE TOTEMLeave Ketchikan behind and head toward an old Indian campsite within Totem Bight
State Park. Home to an abundance of colorful totem poles, each of these represent
a fascinating tale about primitive Alaskan Indian culture.
PANNING FOR GOLDBoth from Juneau and Skagway you can find yourself knee-deep in gold…or better
said looking for gold. Learn the lost art of gold panning and practice your technique
in the icy waters. You may not necessarily strike it rich, but you will come away with
a fun history lesson and another unforgettable shared experience.
TAKING THE TRAM THROUGH TONGASSFrom Icy Strait, you take a covered tram through the lush greenery of the Tongass
National Forest. Riding through its virgin stands of spruce and hemlock is a
hauntingly silent, immensely peaceful, and almost spiritual experience. No wonder
these forests are often referred to as cathedral forests. Keep an eye out for deer and
brown bears, as well as active bald eagle nests on ancient spruce trees.
