    PRESS :

    It is a machine by which we can do

    cutting and non cutting process byapplying force without removing chip onmetallic or non metallic sheet.

    So we can give final shape to the job.

    The primary requirements of steam generators or

    boilers are:

    a) The water must be contained safely

    b) The steam must be delivered safely in desired conditions

    as regards its pressure, temperature, quality and

    required rate

    Drying

    *- Drying is commonly the last stagein a manufacture process.

    *- Dryingis the final removal of waterfrom material (usually by heat)

    thermal drying* 1- As Squeezing wetted sponge2*-Adsorption by desiccant (desiccation) 3*-Extraction.

    Purposes of drying

    - In pharmaceutical technology, drying is carried out for one or more of

    the following reasons:

    1-To avoid or eliminate moisture which may lead to corrosionanddecrease the product or drug stability.

    2-To improveor keep the good propertiesof a material, e.g. flowability,compressibility.

    3-To reduce the cost of transportationof largevolumematerials (liquids)

    4-To make the material easyor more suitable for handling.

    5-Preservative.

    6- The final step in: Evaporation- Filtration- Crystallization.

    Classification of dryers

    Based on solid handling(static bed dryer-moving bed-fluidized

    bed).

    Based on heat transfer(direct dryers-Indirect-IR or radiant heat).

    Dryers for Dilute Solutions and Suspensions

    The objective of these dryersis tospread the liquidto a large

    surface areafor heatand mass transfer for collecting the dry

    solid.

    Twomain typesare used:

    The first, spreadingthe liquid to a thin film.

    The second, dispersing the liquid to a sprayof small droplets.
