Required Age and Training for qualifying admission for First Class Boiler Engineers Proficiency Examination.Age and Training of First class candidates Subject to the proviso below, a candidate for a certificate of proficiency of the first class must not be under 23 years of age and shall not be admitted to examination unless he proves to the satisfaction of the board that he has received such training as is required by Rule 141 in the case of a candidate for a certificate of the second class and possesses or is able to claim a certificate of the second class and in addition thereto has served after having obtained such certificate for not less than one year as engineer in charge of steam plant, the boilers being not less than two in number and each of not less than 46 square meters heating surface.Proviso for direct admission Provided that any applicant who has fulfilled the training requirements prescribed in Rule 141 for candidates for a certificate of the second class and in addition has served for not less than three years in the position prescribed in this Rule, may be admitted direct to examination for a certificate of the first class although he has not obtained a certificate of the lower grade.Proviso for relaxation of service condition Provided further that where an applicant does not fulfil all the service conditions laid down in clause (c) of rule 141 or in this rule, the board may, if it is satisfied that the applicant has served, in another position for the minimum period laid down therein and obtained sufficient practical experience relax such conditions and admit him to the examination. **[ ** These rules are to be followed for Gujarat State only ] TOP Required Age and Training for qualifying admission for Second Class Boiler Engineers Proficiency Examination. Age and Training of Second class candidates A candidate for a certificate of proficiency of the second class must not be under 21 years of age and shall not be admitted to examination unless he proves to the satisfaction of the board that he has served or undergone for not less than five years, the service or training specified in clauses (a), (b) and (c) below, of which not less than three years must have been in accordance with either clause (a) or clause (b) and not less than two years in accordance with clause (c). (a) as a full-time apprentice engineer or engine fitter in a suitable workshop or the making or repairing of steam engines or accessories., (b) A full course of training in an engineering college affiliated to a university leading to a degree including part time degree in Mechanical or Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or a technical institute recognized by the Department of Technical Education of any State Government awarding a diploma including a part time diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a full course of training in an Engineering college or Technical Institute recognized by the State Government as suitable for the training of Mechanical Engineering. (c) As engineer or assistant engineer in a mill or factory or steamship with engines and boilers, the boilers being not less than two in number and each of not less than 46 square metres heating surface. During this process, the participant not only gets prepared for the BOE, but also becomes more proficient in Boiler O&M.
