VISION STATEMENT OF THE PEOPLE OF BOHOL

Bohol is a prime eco-cultural

tourist destination and a

strong, balanced agri-industrial

province, with a well-educated,

God-loving and law-abiding

citizenry, proud of their cultural

heritage, enjoying a state of well-

being and committed to sound

It is with great pride and pleasure that I invite and welcome visitors, development partners and investors to our island province that off ers a wide array of investment opportuniti es and provides a

safe haven for both business and leisure. The province has been known for its amazing tourist desti nati ons

and picturesque natural endowments, like its signature tourism icon the Chocolate Hills, the Philippine tarsier, its beauti ful coastline skimmed by gentle coves and white sand beaches, rich biodiversity and cultural heritage and much more. With these in mind, our provincial government strives to enti ce and help business locators who not only help strengthen our economy but also responds to the challenge of preserving and managing our island environment.

Over the past few years, Bohol’s economic landscape has greatly improved. Our micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) generated over P1.6 billion in investments in 2011 alone. Our agriculture sector remains the biggest provider of rice and other products for Central Visayas, and a new era for Bohol’s tourism is arising, with the opening of high-end luxury hotels and resorts in the island of Panglao, coinciding with the increase in tourist arrivals.

I assure you that the Province of Bohol is doing its eff orts to make it easier to do business here through our programs and projects. For instance, the Bohol Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) houses the mandated and service agencies needed in business name registrati on, permit and licensing requirements. The Bohol Investment Code will soon be revised to feature an expanded list of priority investment areas, our investment policies, and the guidelines and mechanics on how entrepreneurs can avail of fi scal and non- fi scal incenti ves off ered by the Provincial Government of Bohol. We have recently expanded the Tagbilaran City Airport terminal building

to accommodate the increase in passengers, and the New Bohol Airport under public-private partnership is now

set to start constructi on in 2013. Bohol is one of the most peaceful provinces in the country today and

we are trying our best in maintaining peace and security throughout the province and ensuring the availability and aff ordability of primary commoditi es to cope with the growing demands of business and its people.

I hope that this fact book will be your useful and handy guide in making Bohol your desti nati on of choice.
