Keeping the repair area clean and free from contaminants is imperative to achieve a right first time repair. Often technicians are faced with the issue of static charge leading to dust particles settling on panels, and in particular plastic components are more prone to static charge than steel or aluminium. When the plastic is charged it often attracts all of the small dust particles in the close proximity and once these land on the paint film it can spoil the hard work made to the repair.

In general there is a certain amount of static charge that is generated in the standard repair process. However one of the final stages of the process is to wipe the area that is about to be painted with a Tack-Cloth; however unfortunately this step on plastic components will increase the static charge and make the situation worse.

At Brown Brothers we are always looking for a solution to a problem, this is why we developed the new Bodyline

Anti-Static wipes. These wipes should be used as the last stage of the repair process, before the paint is applied. Each wipe is designed for single-use and is pre impregnated with a special solution that neutralises the static charge that occurs during the repair process; what’s more, one wipe is designed to wet the surface of even the largest bumpers.

The wipes come in a pack of 25 and are sealed in a resalable pouch; allowing for easy storage and to assist in reducing product wastage.

The new Bodyline Anti-Static Wipes should reduce the dirt inclusion, saving polishing and reducing working time in the repair process.

ANTI-STATIC WIPES (PK25)

The new Bodyline Anti Static Wipes are an innovative design that removes the static charge that is significantly found on plastic components. Static charge increases dirt inclusions on paint finishes by attracting dust particles in the air to the surface. The Anti Static Wipe, impregnated with a special blend of chemicals, removes the static charge prior to the paint application. This should be the last operation before the application of any paint materials.

Automotive coatings manufacturer, PPG Industries with both its PPG and NEXA AUTOCOLOR® brands as one of two preferred paint partners, has strengthened its partnership with Honda by signing a new five-year contract to supply specialist refinish products and support services to Honda’s extensive European network of dealerships and collision repair centres.

The agreement builds on PPG’s strong relationship with a number of individual local territories within the extensive Honda Motor Europe (HME) Network, including the UK, Poland and Spain. HME has now extended this relationship by officially recommending PPG as an approved aftermarket paint supplier to Honda dealers within 19 strategic European countries.

The contract is based on the supply of products from PPG’s market leading PPG, Nexa Autocolor premium paint brands, as well as colour tools, technical support and the delivery of bespoke training programmes to optimise performance and boost bodyshop productivity through the use of these products.

In fact, PPG’s close links with manufacturers such as Honda through its OEM coatings business means it is able to immediately provide refinish products and tools for current and new vehicles. This enables dealers to achieve precise colour matches for repairing these vehicles to their original condition.
