Micro expressions: Micro expressions are those subtle things that we do with our

body, that we do not know that we do give hints to the observer about whether or not what we are saying in truthful.

They can completely contradict the impression you’re trying to create by what you're saying

When lying someone may pull back the small muscles around the mouth this shows signs of stress, simultaneously another micro expression with be raising of the eye brows also signifying stress.

Let’s say you ask the interview question : tell us about a time when things went wrong when doing a project at work? The person answers the question but after each sentence a very subtle sly smile appears, they do not know that they are doing this and are probably lying and happy that you to believe it.

If you pay close attention to what people’s actions are aside from what they say some other actions will become clear to you as well, examples are: Someone may say yes when responding to a question but nod

their head side to side meaning no, this is a subtle sign that this person is being untruthful

When lying someone may do what is called the turtle, which is lift their shoulders and bring their neck down into their chest

and stays low throughout the lie and then it increases rapidly after the lie
