The refrigerant CO2 = R744
Colourless gas which liquefies under pressure
Slightly acidic smell and taste
No ozone depletion potential (ODP=0)
Negligible direct effect on global warming (GWP=1)
Not combustible, chemically inactive,
heavier than air
Available naturally in large quantities

Important information
Transcritical CO2-applications are still in the development phase
Compressors can only be made available for selected projects
Operation and warranties are subject to a separate
agreement
The refrigerant CO2 = R744
The applications are not a general solution for the substitution of F-gases

Special features CO2 transcritical
• Transcritical operating conditions occur at higher temperatures at the heat exchanger
the refrigerant CO2 can no longer be condensed
• Regulation of the high pressure at the so-called optimal high pressure
the greatest possible enthalpy difference at the evaporator and the lowest possible power consumption of the compressor should be reached
• tga = Gas cooler outlet temperature
• Limit conditions: isentrope compression
• Evaporating pressure = 40 bar with internal heat exchanger
tga=35°C
tga=40°C
tga=45°C
tga=50°C
