QinetiQ North Americas roboticcontroller kit can be installed in about15 minutes on any of 17 models ofBobcat skid-steer, all-wheel steer,or compact track loaders that areequipped with Selectable JoystickControls (SJC).

The kit temporarily turns the loaderinto a remotely operated robot ca-pable of using more than 37 Bobcat-approved attachments. The loader

can be sent down-range to handlelarge, deep-buried IEDs or vehicle-borne IEDs or land mines and unex-

ploded ordnance. Upon completionof a mission, the kit can be removed,reverting the machine to in the seatoperation. The kit can be swappedfrom one SJC-equipped Bobcat loaderto another by the user, allowing themission to dictate what size machineto use along with what specific at-tachment works best.

The robotics kit for Bobcat loadersincludes seven cameras for non-line-

of-sight operation, a microphone toenable the remote operator to hearambient sound from the cab, threedifferent CREW 2.1 compatible radiooptions, three control options (lap-top, wearable and table top), greenand yellow warning lights to signalrobotic engagement, an anti-rolloverwarning system, and emergencymanual shut off switches on thevehicle and on the control panel thatsupport remote restart.

The kits hardened electronics are rat-ed at 156F and have passed rigorousMIL-STD-810F environmental testing.Cameras include five mounted onthe roof, one in the cab and one onthe vehicle looking at the load. Nightvision is provided by IR Illuminationand thermal imaging in addition tothe white lights on the Bobcat loaderitself.
