Transcript of Bobcat Club Brochure 2013

Fellow Bobcats,
Sustaining the overall excellence of our athletics program depends on the generosity of our donors. Our student-athletes wholeheartedly continue our tradition of excellence each day. We support their commitment to representing Texas State with pride through a donorship program that provides a top-tier college experience.
Our top priority will always be the education of our 410 student-athletes. Scholarship support represents our most vital annual need. With the rising cost of a college education, our scholarship expenditures will be more than $4.8 million this fiscal year, which is why your contributions to the Bobcat Club are so important. Every dollar donated to the Bobcat Club is applied directly to the student-athlete scholarship fund. Maintaining and enhancing our successes will depend on our ability to provide our student-athletes with an outstanding Texas State education.
The Bobcat Club has seen tremendous growth over the last four years. Since 2009, our donor base and dollars generated for scholarship support have increased by 400 percent. Donations to the Bobcat Club provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to be their best — both in the classroom and on the field. Our goal for 2013 is to reach 2,000 donors and over $1.3 million in donations to the annual fund. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
Two very important factors need to be considered as we position ourselves for success in the Sun Belt Conference—donations to the Bobcat Club and season ticket sales. The amount donated to an annual student-athlete scholarship fund and the number of football season tickets sold indicate the overall strength of an athletic department. In order for Texas State University to reach its potential and achieve its goals, these numbers must continue to grow. I encourage you to get involved by purchasing season tickets, donating to the Bobcat Club and doing your part to take this university and athletic department to new heights.
Thanks so much for your support, passion and enthusiasm for Texas State Athletics! We are inspired every day to make this university one that is nationally respected in the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.
GO BOBCATS!

Across the country, the academic and athletic success of student-athletes is directly tied to the number of donors supporting a university’s athletic department. This is how the Bobcat Club compares to Texas State’s regional and conference peers.

With the help of the Bobcat Club, Texas State student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom, as shown by the following highlights:
• The Texas State NCAA student-athlete graduation rate is 69 percent, compared to 55 percent for the general student population.
• The average cumulative GPA for Texas State student-athletes was 2.84 at the end of spring 2012.
• An impressive achievement: 45 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.
• In 2012, 57 student-athletes earned their diplomas and graduated from Texas State University.
NCAA Academic Progress ReportThe Academic Progress Rate (APR) is a measure of eligibility and retention for Division I student-athletes as used by the NCAA. Eight of the 16 Texas State varsity teams earned a perfect score of 1000, and the department-wide average was 988 during the 2012-2013 academic year. This shows how the increased financial support from our donors has directly benefited the academic performance of our student-athletes.

THE BRINg A BOBCAT CAmPAIgN encourages our passionate fans and supporters to help grow the Bobcat Club by bringing new members to the Bobcat Club. The program credits current donors for the amount of new member donations they bring in to the Bobcat Club.
EXAmPLE
If Joe Fan is a $500 donor and he encourages his neighbor to join the Bobcat Club at the $500 level, Joe gets the benefits of a $1,000 donor ($500 for his donation plus $500 for his neighbor’s donation).
Not only does this campaign help the Texas State Athletic Department continue to grow, it rewards donors for helping the department achieve its goals. There is no limit on the number of people you can sign up and no limit on the amount of credit you can receive!*

ENdOWmENTS An endowment is a transfer of money or property donated to Texas State with the stipulation that it be invested and the principal remain intact in perpetuity, which allows the gift to have a much greater impact over a longer period of time.
This provides an annual spendable income that becomes a permanent resource in future years for student-athletes. Texas State Athletics has seen an increase from $990,000 in endowments to over $2.2 million since 2009.
By creating an endowment, you are establishing an enduring legacy that will carry on for future generations. An endowment can be created with an initial investment of $25,000.
GiFTS-iN-KiNd* A gift-in-kind (GIk) is viewed as a type of charitable giving in which goods and services are donated in lieu of cash. Examples of GIk donations include food at restaurants and rooms at hotels. The Bobcat Club’s GIk program affords the contributor a donation level in the Bobcat Club for the value of GIk provided.
*Subject to Bobcat Club approval
110% prOGrAm We ask our student-athletes to give 110 percent in the classroom and on the field. We ask donors to match their effort by giving 110 percent of their previous annual gift when renewing their Bobcat Club donation.
BOBCAT CLUB YOUNG ALUmNi
Stay involved with Texas State after graduation by participating in the Bobcat Club Young Alumni program. Donors who give an annual gift of at least $100 and who have graduated from Texas State within the last five years are considered Bobcat Club Young Alumni. Members enjoy standard Bobcat Club benefits in addition to receiving invitations for special Young Alumni events. Past events include a football tailgate at a Texas State home game, a basketball pregame reception, and an in-game reception tent event during a home baseball game.
In 2012, 863 graduating seniors joined the Young Alumni program by choosing to donate their university security deposit to the Bobcat Club. Start with a small donation as a young alum and increase your donation as your earnings grow.
MAKE A GIFT. MAKE AN IMPACT.

ANNA HERNANDEz BOBCAT SOFTBALL
“Being a Texas State Bobcat has given me the opportunity to play collegiate softball for a program and university that are both on the rise. The support of fans and the Bobcat Club has shown me that Texas State University and its athletics program are something to be very proud of! It is still unreal to me that I am a part of this amazing university as I aim to make a difference on the field, in the classroom, and around the community.”
