Product Period After Opening Dates/Tuna Can

I am happy to assist you in determining the recommended time-frame in which you should use your product after you have first opened it. In order to determine this, please reference the Period after Opening symbol on the package, which resembles a tuna fish can, and has a number and an “m” representing “months after opening.” For example, (24M) means that you should replace this product within (24 months) after first opening provided the product has been stored under normal conditions and not exposed to extreme temperatures.

Shelf Life

We appreciate the opportunity to explain that the shelf-life for products prior to opening is approximately three years from the date of manufacture, provided they are not exposed to extremes of temperature. The only exceptions are mascara and self-tanners, which should be replaced six months after opening, and nail lacquers, which have a two-year shelf-life. Our facilities are climate-controlled, so product stored there is protected from temperature extremes.

How to Use Foundation Brush

Stroke the Foundation Brush lightly through Foundation to load the brush. Then, use outward and downward strokes to apply and blend foundation on the uneven areas of your face, normally the front of your cheeks, nose, chin and middle of forehead. For more coverage, work foundation to the outer perimeter of your face. Press and pat with fingers to blend.

How to Clean Brushes

Use Bobbi's Conditioning Brush Cleanser to clean your brushes on a monthly basis one by one. It safely and effectively cleans away makeup and residue from makeup brushes. Wet the brush; squirt a "pea size" amount of Brush Cleanser into the palm of your hand. Swirl your brush in cleanser in a circular motion in the palm of your hand. Rinse the brush well under water. Squeeze out excess water and "shape" the brush hairs with your fingers. Lay the brushes on a flat surface to dry.

Powder Brush

Powder Brush can be used to apply your Sheer Finish Powder. It picks up just the right amount of powder and dusts it smoothly and lightly so your face never looks powdery or cakey.

How to use Powder Brush

Dip the Powder Brush into your loose powder and lightly tap off excess. Use a “dusting” motion to deposit powder all over face. Finish by brushing in downward strokes to remove any excess. It may also be used to remove any excess powder after application with Powder Puff.

Dip the brush into the Long Wear Gel Eye Liner and wipe off excess on the side of the jar. Start at the inner corner of the eye and on the upper eye lid and move towards the outer corner, using short, light strokes. Application Tip for Cream Shadow Eye Combination

For a beautiful, water-resistant, crease-proof eye combination, I recommend that you begin by applying ____ Long Wear Cream Shadow ( ) over your lids from lashes to crease, using the Cream Shadow Brush. Next, apply ____ Eye Shadow ( ) on the brow bone, using your finger. Line your upper lashline only with ____ Long Wear Gel Eye Liner ( ), using the Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush. Finish with Black No Smudge Mascara (a jet black).

Application Tip for Smokey Eye Look

Start with the (insert shade) Eye Shadow as your all over color, from lashes to brow (use the Eye Sweep Brush). Next, apply a medium shade, like (insert shade) Eye Shadow, to your lid from lashes to crease (use the Eye Shadow Brush). Eye liner is the key to this look. Apply (insert shade) Eye Shadow close to your top and bottom lash lines. Wet the Eye Liner Brush at the tip and dip it into the Eye Shadow, tap off the excess and you are ready to line. Line over the top lashes first, making sure that when you line the bottom that it meets at the corners of your eye. To create the smoky effect, use the tip of the Eye Smudge Brush to apply more of the same color along the lash line to “smoke it out”.  Sweep on 2-3 coats of Black Extreme Party Mascara to create full lush lashes. Add a soft color to the cheeks; a perfect color for this look would be (product name and shade).  When creating a smoky eye, Bobbi recommends keeping the lip color soft and natural.  This will keep the look balanced. Finish it with a really soft lip color like (insert product name and shade).

Apply (insert shade) Eye Shadow close to your top and bottom lash lines. Wet the Eye Liner Brush at the tip and dip it into the Eye Shadow, tap off the excess and you are ready to line.

Application tip for Smokey Eye Look #3

Line over the top lashes first, making sure that when you line the bottom that it meets at the corners of your eye. To create the smoky effect, use the tip of the Eye Smudge Brush to apply more of the same color along the lash line to “smoke it out”.  Sweep on 2-3 coats of Black Extreme Party Mascara to create full lush lashes. Add a soft color to the cheeks; a perfect color for this look would be (product name and shade).

Basic Cheek

When applying cheek color, think of mimicking the look of a natural “flush”. Put the color where it naturally occurs, at the apples of your cheeks (this is the fullest part when you smile). Using Bobbi’s Blush Brush, apply Blush at the apples, and blend backwards toward your hairline in feathery strokes. Then blend downward to soften the edges. One of Bobbi’s favorite techniques is to apply a soft, neutral shade first, from the apples of the cheek back to the hairline and then a second, brighter shade is applied only to the apples for a “pop” of healthy, fresh color. For your coloring, I recommend trying ____ and _____ shades of Blush.

Blemish Coverage

The best way to effectively conceal a blemish is to apply Bobbi’s Face Touch Up Stick directly to the blemish. Use your fingertip to gently press in to blend then set with Sheer Finish Loose Powder.

Contouring the Face

To showcase your natural bone structure, we recommend sweeping the Bronzing Powder, over your cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and neck, using the Bronzer Brush. Then, layer a bright, sheer blush color on the apples of your cheeks, using the Blush Brush.

Dark Circles

While heredity plays a role in causing dark circles, Bobbi Brown does have some terrific products to help lessen the look of dark circles. Start with Bobbi's Corrector. Apply one of these pink or peach toned Correctors to areas of darkness using the Concealer Blending Brush and gently press in with fingertips to blend. Layer the Creamy Concealer Kit on top. This contains a yellow-based concealer and powder in one convenient kit. Apply concealer with the Concealer Blending Brush at inner corner of the eye, or wherever you see darkness. Use the gentle pressure of your fingertips to blend edges. Set with the Sheer Finish Pressed Powder using the Eye Blender Brush.

Double Lining: How To

Double Lining is a makeup artist inspired technique that really makes eyes stand out! To apply, line eyes with Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner and the new Ultra Precise Eye Liner Brush. Next, use the Smokey Eye Liner Brush to sweep Eye Shadow in a similar color as the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner along the top half of your gel liner application. The result is a diffused liner look that is darkest at the lashline and can help smooth any skips or bumps in your liner.

Extreme Dark Circles

If you have extreme under eye darkness, use a pink or peach-based Corrector shade under your yellow-based concealer. These corrective shades are extremely effective in canceling out the darkest areas under your eyes.

Bobbi Brown recommends using an Eye Shadow along with a specially designed Eye Brow Brush to apply color to the brows for a soft, natural look. Choose an Eye Shadow the same tone as your hair color. Using the Eye Brow Brush, pick up a small amount of color on the angled tips of the bristles and tap off excess. Beginning at the inner corner, use light, upward strokes to fill in brows. Follow the natural shape of brows, creating an arch. For extremely thin, sparse brows, use the Eye Definer Brush for the most natural look.

Eyeliner As Eyeshadow

I would be happy to explain how to apply eye shadow as eye liner. Start with Bobbi’s Eye Liner Brush and a dark shade of eye shadow. (Shade and description) would be a great everyday, wearable shade for you to try. For stronger definition, and longer wear, dampen the Eye Liner Brush. For softer definition, use the same brush dry. Dip the brush into the eye shadow and tap off excess eye shadow. This will help prevent the liner from falling below the eye. Start at the inner corner of your upper eye lid and move towards the outer corner, using short, light strokes. This method is recommended because drawing the line neatly without lifting the brush is very difficult to do. If you choose to use eyeliner on your lower lash line, repeat as above starting at the outer corner of your eye. Be sure that eye liner on your upper and lower lash line meets at the outer corner. Bobbi recommends that you apply eye liner over top lashes only, or to top and bottom lash lines. Never apply liner only under bottom lashes as this can make the eye appear tired.

Eye Puffiness Application

Begin by using an ultra-gentle eye cream such as Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream. It is formulated to absorb quickly, and prepare skin for smooth and easy concealer application. To keep eye makeup from smudging during the day, apply Hydrating Eye Cream under the eye area only. Next, use Bobbi’s Creamy Concealer Kit to lighten under eye darkness and it helps to disguise the puffiness. Apply the concealer with Bobbi's Concealer Brush. Apply to the inner corners, along the lash line, and to anywhere else you see darkness. Gently pat in with your fingertip to blend, and set with the yellow-based powder (included in the kit), using the deluxe Mini Puff to apply. Brush away any excess powder with the Eye blender Brush.

Eye Puffiness Coverage

Begin by using an ultra-gentle eye cream such as Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream or Extra Repair Cream. They are formulated to absorb quickly, and prepare skin for smooth and easy concealer application. Next, use Bobbi's Creamy Concealer Kit to lighten under eye darkness and it helps to disguise the puffiness. Apply the concealer with Bobbi's Concealer Brush. Apply to the inner corners, along the lash line, and to anywhere else you see darkness. Gently pat in with your fingertip to blend, and set with the yellow-based powder (included in the kit, using the Eye Blender Brush, to prevent creasing.

Foundation Color Matching

In order to get the perfect foundation shade for your skin tone, it's important to test it on your skin. Blend the foundation over your cheek and down towards the jaw line. After you've blended it into the skin, it should seem to “disappear” into the surrounding skin. If you can see where it is (either it appears lighter or darker than the surrounding skin), then it's not the right shade. The one exception to this rule is if you have lots of redness in your skin. In this case, Bobbi's yellow-based foundations will tone down the redness, so the color will appear slightly different.

Gel Eyeliner Tip

Start with Bobbi Brown's Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush and your shade of Gel Eye Liner. Dip the brush into the Long Wear Gel Eye Liner and wipe off excess on the side of the jar. Start at the inner corner of the eye and on the upper eye lid and move towards the outer corner, using short, light strokes. Bobbi recommends applying Long Wear Gel Eye Liner on the upper lashes only, and apply a similar shade of eye shadow on the bottom lash line.

Keep Concealer From Creasing

I would be happy to make some suggestions to help you prevent your concealer from creasing. The first step is to make sure that the under eye area is well hydrated. Dry spots will cause makeup to “collect” in those areas. Apply Hydrating Eye Cream and allow it to absorb before applying concealer. The next step is to use a concealer that is neither too dry nor too creamy. The Creamy Concealer Kit contains yellow-based concealer and powder in one convenient kit. Apply concealer with the Concealer Brush to areas with under eye darkness, paying special attention to the lower lash line and the innermost corner of the eye. Use the gentle pressure of your fingertips to blend edges. Set with a small amount of the yellow based powder using the Eye Blender Brush. Tap off excess powder from the brush before applying to under eye area to ensure a natural look.

Long-Wear Eye Pencil Breaking

Long-Wear Eye Pencil is a special gel formula that is designed to be waterproof and apply a medium or full line. It offers a medium rounded tip. It is not meant to be sharpened to a fine point for a fine line. To sharpen, twist the pencil two times in sharpener. If you prefer a fine line, we offer two additional products Long-Wear Gel Eye Liner or Ink Liner. Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Drying Out #1

I am sorry to hear that your Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is drying out. I am happy to suggest a few tips for bringing it back to life. First, when using your Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, use the product from around the edges of the jar first, rather than the center. It avoids "creating a well" that exposes more product to air, causing it to dry out more quickly.

Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Drying Out #2

Also, try to ensure you are keeping the cap tightly screwed onto your Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner between uses and storing it in a cool, dry place. Another great tip is to scoop a small amount of gel liner onto the back of your hand using the end of your Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush. Then, work it "into" the brush by stroking the brush back and forth in the product you placed on your hand.

Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Drying Out #3

The warmth from your skin and friction of the bristles of the brush will make the gel liner much softer and easier to apply. In addition, we do strongly advise against adding anything to your liner as it can compromise the integrity of the product.

For a natural eye look for evening, start by applying ___ Long-Wear Eye Base to keep your shadows in place all day. Sweep ____ Eye Shadow from lid to brow using the Eye Sweep Brush. Press ____ Sparkle Eye Shadow onto the lid using the Touch-Up Brush for a gorgeous shine.

Nude Eye for Evening #2

Should you prefer a little more depth, take _____ Eye Shadow through the crease using the Eye Contour Brush. Line the top lash line with ____ Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner using the Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush and finish the look with 2-3 coats of Eye Opening Mascara for a false-lash effect. This look pairs beautifully with a simple gloss like ____ Lip Gloss or a bolder option such as <INSERT LIP COLOR FORMULA AND NAME>.

Preventing Eye shadow From Creasing

I would be happy to make some suggestions to help keep your eye shadows from creasing. Be sure never to apply eye cream, concealer, foundation or tinted moisturizer to your eye lids before applying your eye makeup. These products are not meant to be used as a base for eye shadows, and may cause your eye shadows to start to "break down" and crease. If you tend to have oily eye lids or problems with creasing, Bobbi recommends using a little Pale Yellow Sheer Finish Loose Powder on your eye lids before applying eye shadow. Her Pale Yellow Sheer Finish Loose Powder is a great one to try because it is oil absorbing and 100% oil free.
