your child know how long your delay may be. Teachers supervising extra-curricular activities are not able to leave until every child has been collected, and your delay may impact other evening commitments. Thank you for your cooperation. ATHLETICS The beginning of the year is a very busy time for our Athletic Program. We are in full swing with our volleyball, cross country and soccer teams. The final meet for cross country takes place on October 3rd at Confederation Park. Good luck runners! Our boys and girls soccer teams are winding down their seasons. Our girls’ team is doing exceptionally well, and are in first place heading into the playoffs. Although our boys competed hard all season long, they will unfortunately miss the post season. The volleyball season is now underway. The season runs from September 26 to November 17. We have four teams competing this year. This is a reminder that all athletes are responsible to get themselves to and from the games. Please keep in mind the weather is beginning to change and students need to be prepared for the cold weather. Our Athletic Teams would not run without the support and time given by our teacher coaches, so we thank you all for your continued support.

X-Country - Mr. Morgan Girls Soccer - Ms. Franks/Madame Amanwi Boys Soccer - Ms. Johnston, Mr. Rigaa Jr. Girls Volleyball - Madame Riebot Jr. Boys Volleyball - Mr. Grunewald Sr. Girls Volleyball - Mrs. Cunha Sr. Boys Volleyball - Mr. Betke

If you missed out on these sports, don’t worry. Wrestling and basketball starts soon!

Sports Events Spectator Policy During Volleyball and Basketball season, students are invited to stay and watch the first game of the evening. Students must restrict themselves to staying in the gym or they will be invited to leave. Following completion of the first game, students must immediately leave the school unless they have their (their own) parent with them who will stay with them to watch the remaining games. During Volleyball and Basketball season, Bob Edwards students are expressly forbidden from attending Bob Edwards “away” games unless they are under the direct supervision of their (their own) parent for the duration of the games. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support of this policy which is intended to keep all students safe.

School Safety Program During the year we will be holding 6 Fire drills and 2 evacuation/ practice lock downs in order to ensure that students are familiar with each important process. We will endeavor to avoid doing these practices in inclement weather in order to provide a better learning experience for the students.

Student Drop Off/PickUp Dropping off students or picking up students in the staff parking lot is strictly prohibited. This is an unsafe practice so please find an alternate place for drop off. Thanks Please drop off/pick-up your child away from the designated bus zone areas at the front and the side of the school. We have 7 buses and it can be very congested when they arrive. If pulling up in front of the school, please pull forward toward the tennis courts. To avoid any traffic violation tickets, do not park in cross walk areas or on the corners of the streets beside the school. Avoid doing any u-turns around the school and please refrain from using the staff parking lot to pick-up or drop off students. If waiting for your child for more than a few moments please do not idle your car for extended periods of time.

Walking Students When walking to and from school, there are a few safety tips to abide by:

- look both ways before crossing the street and make sure the vehicle’s driver sees you and then comes to a stop.

- when crossing the street use the crosswalk…not the middle of the street (always walk across the street, don’t run).

- if you ride a bike to school, wear a helmet (it is the law). - when crossing the street, get off your bike and walk it across (don’t ride it in a

crosswalk).
