Aim The aim of the Mobility System for Visually Impaired (MSVI) is to tell the blind people about their location through comprehensive computer audio out put  by calculating the environmental position through Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

Objectives To assist the visually impaired users to plan their own journey in 2011. To achieve the 100 percent Prepared plan by  providing accurate user navigation assistance in out door environments. To provide flexible travel guides through fixed hardware devices and efficient software solution . To provide a low cost and weight , Humanized size guiding system for the visually impaired people in 2011.

Design of the product

The user types the destination in the computer using Braille’s keyboard. The software (MSVI) then analyses all the possible routes and choose the best route.

The easiest route is then sent to the navigator and the directions are been analysed by the navigator. The navigator then connects to the GPS and gets the direction to reach the destination. The navigator also converts the data into sound signals and passes it to the Bluetooth-enabled headset; thereby the user could listen to the directions and reach the destination safely.

Factors influencing the success of project

Budget and fundingSoftware designTechnical supportMarketing strategy

SWOT ANALYSISSTRENGTH

1.User friendly2.95% accuracy3.Pre-loaded information about common locations are available in a click4.Detailed and intensive information on all routes (bus, tram and tube)5.More clarity in response from the headset.

WEAKNESS 1.Unable to use in absence of GPS network2.Device to be charged everyday3.Persons with impaired limbs find it difficult4.Person needs to carry the device at all times5.Software crash may occur due to extensive data feed

OPPORTUNITIES 1.Attract more funding from Government-aided services2.Funding from Royal Blind Society (RBS)3.Tie-ups with mobile service providers4.Increased need in the global market

THREATS 1.High competition from other low cost countries like China, Japan, Taiwan2.Insufficient fund leading to drop of the project3.Advancement in technology4.Economic crisis resulting in decreased users

Role DescriptionBusiness Analysis

The business Analysis analyses the user requirements of the MSVI project, the team under business analysis ensure if the requirements are satisfied, such that product can move to the Design MSVI software phase.

Project Manager

The project manager of the MSVI system is a important role , he is the man has to ensure the product testing part given by the quality assurance team,  if testing is completed then the project can move to the development phase.

Developer  The developers of the MSVI have to develop the MSVI system under project manager direction. If the product is not satisfied then they have to develop again the product again towards bug free product.

Marketer  The Sales Marketer is responsible for the product sales and marketing. They have to deliver user guides and promote advertisement campaign to sell the product
