YOUR CLUB

You have been accepted into your club and are now a working part of it. Every Member assumes responsibilities immediately they are admitted. You will find that you have office-bearers, who generously give their time and energy so that you can play and enjoy the game. Be appreciative of them; do everything you can to make their work as easy as possible; be punctual; willing to abide by their decisions; support all social functions and events, for the good of the Club and your enjoyment.

The cost of maintaining your club is ever exercising the thoughts of your office-bearers. Without stable and sufficient finance, no club can be successful, so you are earnestly entreated to generously accept your portion of financial responsibilities and support all revenue returning activities.

Never let your Club down. Be proud of it at all times put it before yourself. Do nothing in your actions, words or appearance, which will reflect against your Club. Do your part to enhance its reputation so that it is known as a fine Club.

DRESS RULES

Members are urged to dress in good taste at all times and maintain the dignity of the game of bowls and club Standards to obviate any embarrassment to themselves and fellow members and guests.

Members and guests are asked to observe the following general requirements. • T. Shirts or Singlets etc. with prominent advertising or lettering in any

form other than small motifs are not permitted • When shorts are worn they should be of reasonable length.• Proper footwear must be worn at all times.

GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.• Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others.• Be professional in, and accept responsibility for, your actions.• Make a commitment to providing quality service.• Be aware of, and maintain an uncompromising adherence to, Bowls

Victoria standards, rules regulations and operate within the rules ofthe sport including national and international guidelines which governBowls Victoria, the Member clubs, Districts, Associations andAffiliated Clubs.

• Do not use your involvement with Bowls Victoria, a Member Club,Group, District Association or an affiliated club to promote your ownbeliefs, behaviours or practices where these are inconsistent withthose of Bowls Victoria.

• Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially whendealing with persons under the age of 18 years, as your words andactions are an example.

• Refrain from any form of harassment of others.• Refrain from any behaviour that may bring Bowls Victoria, a Member

Club, Group, District, Association or an Affiliated Club into disrepute.• Provide a safe environment for the conduct of the activity.• Show concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured.• Be a positive role model.• Understand the repercussions if you breach, or are aware of any

breaches of, this Code of Conduct.

CLUBHOUSE RULES

Any member who brings a visitor to the club must immediately enter their name in the visitors’ book. The member is responsible for the visitors’ conduct on the green and in the clubhouse. The visitor must leave before or with the member. They must ensure that the visitor’s dress conforms to the club dress rules.

HEAT RULES/POLICIES

G.B.R. – Midweek Pennant:

When the outside temperature displayed on the heat sensor is 34 degrees all play MUST cease and not resume until temperature falls below 34 degrees.

G.B.R. – Saturday Pennant:

When the outside temperature displayed on the heat sensor is 36 degrees, all play MUST cease and not resume until temperature falls below 36 degrees.

Clifton Springs Bowling Club:

For club events, social bowls etc. The club takes into account GBR policy in determining conditions of play in relation to heat. In any event, the health and safety of players is the overriding principle.

CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS GUIDELINES & PROCEDURE FOR PLAYERS

• Entry sheets for various events and championships will be posted onthe relevant notice boards to enable time for all members to enter theirnames. Print your name on the entry sheet, and place relevant entryfee in envelope supplied stating name and event, (eg: Club Pairs,District Singles, etc). Entry fees are to be paid prior to game.

• Entry sheets will be removed at the specified time on the scheduledclosing date and the draw for all club events will be completed by theMatch Committee.

• Match Committee reserves the right to alter playing schedule.

• All games are to be played on the dates and at the times shown; unlessby mutual agreement between players that their game be playedearlier. Match Committee must be notified of all matches to be playedif not on scheduled playing day.

• If players are not able to reach a mutually acceptable playing time, theMatch Committee Chairperson will make a decision which will be final.Games not played by or on the completion date may be subject toforfeit.

• Players are to organise their own Markers and ensure that has beenarranged prior to the event. Defeated competitors are expected touphold the “Protocol and Etiquette” of lawn bowls by Marking in thefollowing round of their draw. Markers are to ensure that the winners’names are progressed to the next round.

• In the circumstances of sickness, specialist’s appointments, immediatefamily needs, consideration will be given to alterations to playingschedule.

• Club Pennant Uniform must be worn for Finals.

• A substitute may be used in team events.

• State and Region events take precedence over club events.

• The co-operation of all members would be greatly appreciated.

DUTIES OF A SINGLES MARKER: Do’s

Introduce yourself to both players. Align the jack after it has come to res. Retire to a position 2-3m behind the head and 1m to either side. Watch for signals from players in possession of the mat. Keep clear of the head when players arrive as they determine the result – not you.Call scorecard at the completion of each end.

Don’ts Don’t move behind the head whilst bowlers are on the mat. Don’t move to check position of the head unless asked to do so. Don’t applaud either player. Don’t supplement your answer with information not asked for. Don’t remove shot bowls or disturb the head in any way – the players will do this.
