This week 10 new students enrolled at Boambee Public School. William, Jessica, Lachlan and Jackson Joice have moved to the Boambee Valley from Shortland. Jaiden, Maison and Eli McLean have also moved to the Boambee Valley from Sydney. Kalob and Harrison Stone have moved to Boambee from Kedron in Queensland. And Malakai Boland-Hoskins has moved back to the area from Sydney. It is wonderful to have you and your families join our Boambee School Community. Chicken Pox Alert Please assist us by checking your child/children. Following are some helpful facts from NSW Government Health: Time from exposure to illness: 10 to 21 days, usually 14 to 16 days. Symptoms: Slight fever, runny nose, and a rash that begins as raised pink spots that blister and scab. Do I need to keep my child home? Yes, for 5 days from the onset of the rash and the blisters have dried. How can I prevent spread? Immunise your child at 18 months of age. Immunisation is recommended for children at 12 years of age if they are not immune. K/1F Science K/1F are budding scientists. This week we investigated the properties of a variety of materials. Have a look at our photographic evidence and conclusions we wrote. Today we learnt about properties of materials. I learnt that wood is waterproof. By Brianna Today we tested materials to see if they are waterproof. I tested aluminium foil and it was waterproof. By Sienna Today we did some experiments and I found out that paper towel was absorbent. By Claire Today we tested if materials were flexible, waterproof, absorbent and transparent. we learnt that transparent means see through. I bent a metal spoon. I bent it because it was made of thin metal. By Roxy Today we tested materials to see if they are flexible, waterproof, transparent and absorbent. We did some in the top COLA. CSIRO Forces Show Reminder Notes for this show on Thursday 23rd October were distributed this week. Cost is $5.00 per student and must be paid by Monday 20th October. Silk Worms in Kinder Tate Harrison from KL visited the office to share his information report about Silk Worms. “The moths layed their eggs like yesterday. One Silkworm is not making it’s cocoon yet. The moths layed lots of eggs and after that the moths will die”. Well Done Tate! League Tag On Wednesday NRL development officers came to Boambee Public School to prepare us for the League Tag Gala Day later in the term. All Students had a great afternoon and we look forward to the remaining two sessions in the upcoming weeks.

Playground News Lara and Ella were amazed by the intricate design of the birds nest they found and shared it with their school friends.

Student Banking Student banking is every Thursday. Uniform Shop The uniform shop is open every Monday from 9.00am to 10.30am. Wendy Gallagher is our P&C representative who volunteers her time to sell our uniforms on this day. If you can not come in at that time call by the school front office and collect an order form and Wendy will fill it when she comes in. Thank you Mrs Gallagher for organising uniforms for our new students this week. Canteen News Meal Deal New Ham and Pineapple Pizza and any drink $5.00. We thank them for their fantastic support but this has left us with a number of days where there is no-one to help prepare lunches. Please consider helping at our canteen. 2015 Calendars Early Stage 1, Stage 1 and Stage 2 have the opportunity to purchase a 2015 calendar made from one of their drawings or artworks. These are lovely calendars for home and also make a lovely Christmas gift for grandparents and family members. The price of a calendar is $10.00 and orders are due back at school by Friday 31st October. Art works will be completed this term and parents may view these before ordering if they wish. Please see Mrs Glover if you would like to see a sample calendar.

Loud Shirt Day raised $330.00 students came dressed in a loud, bright and

colourful shirt. Funds raised will give the gift of sound and speech to deaf children. Thank you everyone for
