About this Manual

This document describes Role & Administration implemented in BO. It will explain the way in which end user can do BO admin activities.

Purpose

This Document has been written to help the end user understand and perform BO Administration.

Intended Audience

This manual is intended for all the users who have administration rights of BO xi3.1

Prerequisites

Following are the prerequisites for performing the tasks presented in this manual:

Functional User is expected to have Basic understanding Security Architecture of SAP.

1 Introduction to CMC

This document describes the way in which BO Power user or BO Administrator of TATA SKY can interact with the BO CMC Application to do Administration of BO.

CMC is the Central Management Console

It is a web based tool which allows users to remotely control the entire Business Objects Enterprise system.

Allows to perform user & server management tasks, publish as well as organize objects.

Through the CMC, administrators can define the overall security model and define access rights

Only users with administrative rights can perform Administrative Tasks.

2 Getting Started

The URL (http://<Server IP>:8080/CmcApp/logon.faces) is created for the SAP BO User Interface to access the CMC.

2.1 BO CMC

The user can login to the CMC application using the specific user identification and Password at the URL mentioned above. After successful login the user is permitted to do admin activities of BO.

2.2 Logging In

When the user accesses the URL mentioned, the BO CMC screen appears.

Login to the system using your SAP or BO credentials.

Once logged in you can see the below screen:

3 MANAGING USERS AND GROUPS

The following are covered in this section: Default Accounts Creating Users and Groups Adding Users to Groups Deleting an Account Licenses

3.1 Default BOE Accounts

The following default users and groups are available in BO:

Userso Administratoro Guest

Groupso Administrators àMembers are able to perform all tasks in all of the

BOE applications.o Everyone àMembers are allowed to access all the reports found in

Report Samples folder.o Universe Designer users àMembers are allowed access to the Designer

application.o BOE NT Users àMembers are allowed to view folders & reports.

3.2 Creating Users and Groups

3.2.1. Creating Group in CMC

New groups can be created in CMC.Each Group has following properties.Group Properties

Steps to Create New Groups.

1. Select Users and Groups. 2. You will see the following Users and Group screen in CMC. Click on “Create New

Group” Option.

3. Provide Group Name and Discription. 4. Press Ok.

3.2.2. Creating User Account

New users can be created in CMC.User Account has following Properties: Account Name Full Name Description Password Settings Email

Steps to Create New User.

Select Users and Groups option in CMC. 1. You will see the following Users and Group screen in CMC. Click on User List

“Create New Group” Option.2. Provide User Name and Properties.3. Click Create “New User”.

3.2.3. Adding Users to Groups

The steps to assign user to Group is below:

Click Users List tab.

Right Click on User Name.

Click on Join group.

Select the Groups From the List.

Click ok.

3.2.4. Deleting User or Group Account

New users and groups can be deleted in CMC When you delete a group,

Users or sub-groups that are members of that group are not deleted.

When you delete a user account, Favourites folder, personal categories and inbox for that user are

deleted as well Any owned recurring instances become owned by Administrator

Tip : If you think user may need account in future, disable rather than delete.

Step 1 : Right Click on User Name and Select Delete option.

3.3 License keys

1. Log on to the Central Management Console.2. In the Organize area in the CMC, select License Keys from Manage Area. A list

of existing License Keys is displayed.

3. Enter New License Keys in Add Key Text Box. Click Add.4. To Delete License Keys. Select License Keys From List. Click Delete.

4 Voyager Connection

4.1 To create a new connection object in the CMC

1. Log on to the Central Management Console.2. In the Organize area in the CMC, select Voyager Connections.3. Click New Connection.

4. Type a Name and optionally type a Description for your connection.5. Select an OLAP provider from the list:

a. SAP Business Information Warehouse (available only if theBusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions has been installed)

6. Enter the provider-specific connection properties, such as the server name, and click Connect.

7. Enter your credentials and click OK.

8. In the Cube Browser, locate the cube you want to use for this connection, and then click Select.

9. Choose an authentication type for this connection. Following Different authentication types are available,

a. Prompt When this type is selected for the connection, the end user will be

prompted with a dialog box to enter his username and password when the Voyager application initiates the connection.

b. SSO (single sign-on) With the single sign-on option selected, the user signs on once to the

InfoView application with his credentials, and then is able to connect to the back-end servers in Voyager without having to enter the username and password again. The Voyager application (through the MDAS Server) automatically retrieves the credentials from the current InfoView session and passes them to the server. Voyager application initiates the connection.

c. User Specified With this option selected, the administrator enters a specific username

andpassword which will be stored as part of the connection object. The storedusername and password will always be used to authenticate to the back-endserver when this connection object is accessed from a Voyager application.Like single sign-on, this authentication type does not require the end user

to enter a username and password in the Voyager application. However,because the same credentials are used for every user who accesses thecube through this connection, this option is not always suitable.

10. Click Save to create the connection.

4.2 To copy a connection object

1. Log on to the Central Management Console.2. In the Organize area in the CMC, select Voyager Connections.3. Select the connection that you want to copy.

4. Click Copy Connection.

5. Type a Name and optionally type a Description for your connection.6. You can choose to save the copied connection now, or make changes to the

connection settings. If you want to make changes.

7. Click Save to create the connection.

4.3 Editing a connection

.1. Log on to the Central Management Console.2. In the Organize area in the CMC, select Voyager Connections. A list of existing

connections is displayed.

3. Select the connection that you want to edit, and click Edit Connection. Note: If you do not have "Add objects to the folder" permission in the

Business Objects Enterprise system, you cannot edit a connection, and the Edit Connection button is unavailable.

4. You can now change the contents of any of the fields to reconfigure your OLAP cube connection.

5. Click Save to save the new connection settings.

4.4 Deleting a connection

1. Log on to the Central Management Console.2. In the Organize area in the CMC, select Voyager Connections. A list of existing

connections is displayed.

3. Select the connection that you want to delete.4. From the menu, select Manage > Delete. Alternatively, you can right-click the

connection and select Manage >Delete.
