Take a good photo of yourself with decent light and shadowed area of your face

A normal camera phone is enough to get a decent detail

Step (2) Posterize ImageBMULT1101 | Multimedia Technology | EXTRAAdjust until you get agood amount of levelsUseSelectionToolThe Posterize option is inImage > Adjustments > Posterize

Step (3) Adjust ThresholdBMULT1101 | Multimedia Technology | EXTRAAdjust to get a singlepattern like soThe Threshold option is inImage > Adjustments > ThresholdStep (4) Create more patternsBMULT1101 | Multimedia Technology | EXTRAUse the Threshold option to get 4-5 more patterns like so

Try to get some differences between each pattern

Remember that a good lighting & shadow will give more pattern variation

Save each pattern in a new file

Step (5) Create a stripe patternBMULT1101 | Multimedia Technology | EXTRAIn Illustrator, you can custom make your own tile-able pattern

For this tutorial, we will use a 4px 4px to produce a stripe pattern

Draw two rectangles, each is 4px 2px in size

Change their color as you see fit

Select both of them and click & drag them into the color Swatches

Save the swatches and load it in the file where you want to use the new swatches

You dont exactly have to follow the threshold pattern completely. Sometime you do need to adjust the traced pattern to improve the effect
