Thank you for joining the 2012 British Mycological Society Annual Scientific Meeting "Fungal Interactions" at the

University of Alicante (UA, Spain). Please find below the programme for this year's meeting. Make sure you check in

it the type of presentation your contribution has been selected for (poster or offered oral paper). We have lots of good

mycology and fun ready for you and we are all looking forward to welcoming you to the UA. Outlined below are some

instructions to help you prepare for your visit. Please do not hesitate to contact us (imem@ua.es) (lv.lopez@ua.es),

Venue and Arrival Instructions

The Meeting is being held within the Germán Bernacer Building (36, UA campus map*) Main Lecture Hall on the

ground floor, which is located on the south edge of the UA Campus next to the UA Museum. A copy of the UA

Campus map* can be found at !http://www.ua.es/en/presentacion/index.html (The campus/Campus Map) Conference

delegates with bookings for their accomodation at the Villa Universitaria (Beside North Entry to UA campus, UA

campus map*, www.villauniversitaria.com/Avd. Vicente Savall, 16. San Vicente del Raspeig. Tel: +34 966 388 127)

are requested to check-in at the same Villa Universitaria main office (ground floor) when they arrive.

The Registration for the BMS12 Meeting reception desk the Germán Bernacer Building will be manned from 12:30-

14:30 on Monday 3rd September and from 17:00-18:00. Delegates arriving after this time should make their way to the

meeting room or check-in at the accommodation reception in Villa Universitaria (see Accomodation below). BMS12

Registration desk will be open 30 min before Meeting Sessions.

Travel Plans

Airport: Alicante International Airport is located approx. 15 Km from the UA Campus connected by the A-70 highway

(exit San Vicente-Universidad). Other International Airports: Valencia is 180 Km away. Madrid Airport is 400 Km

away. Barcelona airport 550 km away. From Alicante airport you can reach the UA campus taking a taxi or (much

cheaper) boarding the C-6 line bus from the Airport to Alicante. Stop at the Alicante Bus Station (Estacion de

Autobuses, 3rd stop) and from there take bus no. 24 to the UA Campus (Universidad) and San Vicente.

Train Station: Alacant-Alicante Train (RENFE/ADIF) station is the main line station in Alicante city (Avenida de

Salamanca s/n, Alicante). There is a taxi rank at the station. Nearby there is the bus stop for bus no. 24 to the UA

Campus (Universidad) and San Vicente.

Bus Station: The main bus station is on Alicante harbour (Puerto de Alicante, Muelle de Poniente S/N). Outside the

Station there is the bus stop for bus no. 24 to the UA Campus (Universidad) and San Vicente.

UA Car Parking: Car parks are marked on the UA campus map and parking is free. There is a large carpark outside the

Meeting Conference Hall (on the back, see UA campus map).

Accommodation

All delegates who have requested accommodation will be staying at the Villa Universitaria (Beside North Entry to UA

campus, UA campus map*, www.villauniversitaria.com , located at Avda. Vicente Savall, 16. San Vicente del Raspeig.

Tel: +34 966 388 127). The Villa Universitaria is only 10-15 min minute walk from the main conference centre. You

will be directed to by our team of helpers. On arrival, delegates should collect their keys from the Villa Universitaria

reception. The reception is open 24 h daily.

Presentations

All invited speakers and abstracts selected for an oral presentation are indicated on the attached programme. Offered

papers chosen for poster presentations are listed at the end of the programme document.

Speakers are requested to deliver 20 min talks, allowing a further 5 minutes for questions. The presentation platform in

the Germán Bernacer Building Main Lecture Hall supports Microsoft Powerpoint presentations. Please make sure that

you upload your talk at the reception desk in plenty of time before the relevant session. USB memory sticks or CD

copies of your talk are acceptable.

Posters should be produced in portrait format and must be no larger than A0 size (119x84 cm). Velcro fasteners will be

provided. Please check on arrival at the reception for the appropriate session / location to present your poster.

Social Programme/Meeting T-shirts

During the meeting and also at the conference dinners BMS12 Meeting T-shirts will be available for purchase to raise

money for the student bursaries supported by the BMS. Besides before dining BMS delegates will engage into journeys

to medieval and Roman Alicante, Wine tasting, and more much more...... :)

Additional Information

Non-Smoking/Recycling.- The UA operates a non-smoking policy in all areas and supports recycling in all the campus

(blue bins for paper/cardboard, yellow for plastic/cans).

Health/Medical Insurance.- Participants are advised to ensure that they have adequate medical insurance to cover the

period of their stay in Spain.

Electrical Voltage.- Spain standard voltage is 240, with round two-pin plugs - you may need to have an adaptor with

you.

Weather.- Early September is less hot than mid summer (cool in the evenings) but still you are advised to bring summer

clothing (including swimming gear, pools are available at the Villa Universitaria and at the UA Campus) and a hat/cap

will also be useful.
