o Many building automation systems have alarm capabilities.If an alarm is detected, it can beprogrammed to notify someone.
Notification can be through a computer, pager, cellular phone, or audible alarm.
o Fire detection and alarm systems as per NFPA72 and AHJ requirements, and in accordance with project and design guidelines.
o Main/repeater fire alarm control panel, smoke/heat detectors, visual/audible strobes and manual call points are integral components of the system.
o Security systems can be interlocked to a building automation system.
o If occupancy sensors are present, they can also be used as burglar alarms
o Fire and smoke alarm systems can be hard-wired to override building automation.
o The following functional systems are interconnected to the Fire Alarm System:
o Shutting down of Air Handling Units of the affected areas
o Closing of smoke check doors for segregation of affected areas from non-affected areas
o Start-up of pressurization fanso Start-up of smoke extraction fans (mechanical
smoke control)o Public Address Systemo Grounding of all elevators
o With Home Automation, the consumer can select and watch cameras live from an Internet source to their home or business.
