Photo time Have you seen our People’s Choice
pictures from last year’s BMDH Photo
Competition?
They are on temporary display in the
courtyard corridor gallery on level 3 at
Blacktown Hospital, just behind
Hospital Street. The 20 images were
selected from hundreds of entries and
will soon be heading to their permanent
homes in the new Acute Services
Building, where they are destined for
wards, corridors, waiting areas, meeting
and consultation rooms.
Congratulations to our People's Choice
photographers and thank you to
everyone who entered. Kim, Marie and Colette in the gallery outside the cancer centre
Training
wheels Staff training for the new
Acute Services Building
equipment kicked off this
week with bed training. The
new ICU beds will provide
optimum comfort for
patients, and are
ergonomically designed for
maximum ease-of-use for
staff. The bed articulates so
the patients can sit up, even
if they are too unwell to
leave their bed. Thanks to
our ICU team and trainers.
Thumbs up for the super comfy new ICU beds

Emergency Dept team in their paper independence session
Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Project | No. 310 | 5 April 2019
School of
art Welcome to our latest art partners,
Xander and Zoe from Muralisto, who
will be working with students from
Blacktown Girls High School to create
a mural for the hospital car park wall.
The team started the collaborative
process by asking the girls to think
about the colours and shapes which
come to mind when they hear words
such as “acceptance”, “breaking
barriers” and “celebrating
uniqueness”. Students will participate
in two workshops to design the mural
as part of the school’s extension art
class. Thank you to Blacktown Girls
High School principal, art faculty and
students for enthusiastically embracing
our project!
Independent
thinkers The Intensive Care Unit team
completed their paper independence
session for activity based working
(ABW) this week. The session
encourages staff to starting thinking
differently about how they use and
store paper, and to start decluttering
before they move to the new building.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
The new Intensive Care Unit ABW will
be the A5Hub, on level 5 of the new
building.
