ABSTRACT Optical disks share a major part among the secondary
storage devices. Bluray Disc is a nextgenerationoptical disc format. The technology utilizes a blue laserdiode operating at a wavelength of 405 nm to read andwrite data. Because it uses a blue laser it can store
enormous more amounts of data on it than was everpossible.
Data is stored on BluRay and can record up to 2.5hours of very high quality audio and video on a singleBD.
Bluray also promises some added security, makingways for copyright protections. Bluray discs can have
a unique ID written on them to have copyrightprotection inside the recorded streams.
Bluray disc takes the DVD technology one step
further just by using a laser with a nice color

LITERATURE REVIEW
History:Year(s) What happen?
1958 The optical disc was invented by David Paul Gregg
1961 David Paul Gregg registered a patent for the analog
optical disc for video recording as video disc1968 Music Corporation of America (MCA) was purchased that
patent and continue to further development
1969 Philips Research Physicists began their first optical video
disc experiment at Eindhoven
1975-1978 Philips and MCA were work together to do this
development but fail
1983 Philips and Sony were together to develop the audio
compact disc successfully
Mid-1990s The second generation of optical disc, Digital Video
Disc/Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) was developed

Features of Blu-ray Disc:-1. Content Protection
o provides some of the strongest copy protectionmethods (protect from piracy). Its incorporates arobust copy protection mechanism.
2. Lifespano can stay relevant for at least 10 years to 15 years. Its
high storage capacity of 25 to 50 GB (best suitable forHigh Definition video quality and most data storagedemand).
3. Broadest Industry Supporto previous history have shown that the development of
Blu-ray disc was supported by many electronicsmanufacturers and IT companies like Dell, HP,Hitachi, LG Electronics, Matsushita (Panasonic),Mitsubishi, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sonyand Thomson/RCA. Its make faster development of
Blu-ray disc.

4. Production cost (cheaper)o 10% of DVD production costs, although a Blu-ray
Disc offers 5-10 times the capacity. Blu-ray Discrequires fewer slots in a replication linecompared to other formats. Blu-ray Discs do notrequire cartridges.
5. Capacityo Provide large capacity with more data storage
(25 GB).
6. Robustness of Disc6
. Blu-ray disc is much stronger resistance toscratches and fingerprints than other existing andproposed formats. Its do not require a cartridgeand can be used as a bare disc. Then, avoidsextra production costs.
