Uptown NormalUptown Normal Renewal Office108 Beaufort Street, 61761309.433.3420www.uptownnormal.com
Now is the time to visit Uptown Normal!
Uptown experienced a significant trans-formation during the past several years, and while the refreshing signs of ongoing change are still present, the effects of the extensive revitalization efforts are now evident throughout the district. Streets and sidewalks, completely rebuilt in 2009, are bustling with activity. Stores and restaurants, both old and new, are full of people. Plus, the brand new Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center opened in Uptown last year, adding a whole new dimension and vibrancy to the area.
Uptown Normal is a unique destination. It is easy to spend an entire day discov-ering the district, including the one-of-a-kind locally owned businesses, the three-story Children’s Discovery Museum, the Historic Normal Theatre, and more. Multiple parking decks, surface park-ing lots, and on-street parking makes visiting Uptown by car easy (and particu-larly fun thanks to the new roundabout!). However, wide sidewalks, plenty of
benches and bicycle racks, and access to the community’s multipurpose Consti-tution Trail also make it a breeze to visit Uptown on foot or by bicycle.
This is a place for everyone. Residents and visitors alike will find plenty to enjoy in Uptown, and there is always some-thing new to experience in the district. Seasonal events like the Sweet Corn and Blues Festival and the Sugar Creek Arts Festival, one of the region’s largest juried art shows, are just a few more reasons among the many to spend some time in Uptown.
Uptown Normal invites you to visit old favorites and discover new ones today!

Life Downtown… It’s A Beautiful Thing!
Spending a personal day in Downtown Bloomington can be beneficial to your health! A stroll though the square, with its blend of historic architecture and contem-porary energy, invites you to consider the past, present and future as you customize a day that is all about you.
A short walk in any direction will lead guests to points of discovery. With more than 38 specialty retailers to choose from, a handy Downtown Bloomington Association walking map can help you successfully find what you are looking for, whether that is an imported bottle of wine, a one-of-a-kind work of art, a rare book, a priceless antique, or the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had.
In addition to shopping, a day downtown should also include some pampering at one of our salons and spas, lunch or dinner at one of our 16 eateries, a show, exhibit or sporting event at one of our entertainment venues, and end with a nightcap at one of our 14 night spots.
Downtown Bloomington is also home to the nationally recognized Farmers’ Market which brings fresh meats and produce to the community from mid May until the end of October, and to a variety of exciting events which occur on the First Friday evening of every month. Those events include winter’s Tour de Chocolat and chocolate challenge, spring’s Tour de Metro, summer’s Live Music Fest, and fall’s Around the Corner Art Walk.
Plan some Down time today!

Illinois State University718 W. CollegeNormal, IL 61790309.438.2111www.illinoisstate.eduFounded in 1857, Illinois State University was
the state’s first public university, and is one
of the Midwest’s oldest institutions of higher
education. It is a co-educational, residential
university with an emphasis on the under-
graduate program, offering more than 188
fields of undergraduate study across 34
academic departments. The Graduate School
coordinates 39 masters, two specialist
and eight doctoral programs. The 350-acre
campus includes over 60 major buildings
with state-of-the-art technology, and
Watterson Towers is one of the most unique
structures, as this residence hall is the
tallest building between Chicago and
St. Louis. Other major facilities include a
Center for the Performing Arts, a 360-acre
farm, Bone Student Center and Braden
Auditorium, a University Planetarium, Redbird
Arena and Hancock Stadium. From meeting
facilities to cultural opportunities through the
arts and excitement of numerous sporting
events each year, ISU is a vital part of the
Bloomington-Normal community.
