The Adventures of Martin and Katie Luther and Jesus!
What’s Happening @ Resurrection
To my dear Resurrection family, I am thrilled to have just returned from an amazing adventure and want to share my experiences
with you! Pastor Al and Char were so kind to invite me to travel with them on their recent trip to Ireland. We started our journey in Dublin where we rented a car and headed south. Our first stop was in the medieval city of Kilkenny, where we explored St Canice’s
Cathedral and Round Tower (top right) built in the 1200’s. Though we weren’t brave enough to climb the Round Tower, we did wander around the grave yard and saw many tombstones from the 17th Century and looked inside the cathedral. As we continued
on our way, we passed through many small villages and towns on winding roads, which was an adventure in itself seeing as Pastor Al had to drive on the left side of the road and maneuver through many round-a-bouts!
Our next stop was in County Cork where we visited The Blarney Castle (top left), which dates back to the 1400’s. It was an amazing
place to explore and I even got to see Pastor Al kiss the Blarney Stone! From there we headed to Mizen Head, the most southwest-erly point of Ireland on the Kilmore peninsula (bottom right), and enjoyed the dramatic cliffs and crashing waves. From there we
headed to County Kerry, drove the scenic route of the Ring of Kerry, visited Ross Castle, saw sheep, sheep and more sheep! In County Clare we visited the Bunratty Castle and the Cong Abby then headed to County Donegal to explore Malin Head, the north-ern most point in Ireland.
We then made our way to Antrim in Northern Ireland and explored the Giant’s Causeway (bottom left) where an ancient volcanic
eruption created an area of interlocking basalt columns. Or, if the legends are true, an Irish giant was challenged to a fight by a Scot-tish giant and he built the causeway
across the North Channel so the two giants could meet!
After driving almost 1000 miles, we ended our journey in Dublin
where we spent a day exploring before heading to the airport and
our long trip home. I cannot tell you how thrilling it was to visit
Ireland and see another part of God’s amazing world.
Many thanks to Pastor Al and Char for the wonderful adventure! If you
are planning a trip this summer and would like some company, please
contact Pastor Al at: [email protected] to see if I am
(or Martin & Katie!) available to travel with you!
Your friend, Jesus
