These blogs allowed me to look deeper into my writings and work and allow me to reflect upon them. Whether the blog be for a plan before the initial start or a post-essay thought. It allowed me to develop myself as a person and writer and gave me a whole appreciation of the power of reflection and thought. I am used to just jumping right into a project and not doing much pre-planning, writing blogs made things a lot easier. Also, writing post-assignment blogs got rid of my mindset of just turning a project in and forgetting about the lessons learned throughout. Throughout the year writing blogs has advanced my writing skills, opened up a whole new perspective for me, and showed the importance of reflection.I have always enjoyed writing in all subjects. Research or personal narrative was always one of my favorite things to do. Research was not absolute favorite, but some of the blogs made me realize and understand researching. For example, blog 1 Why Research? used the textbook and applied it to what we were doing in class. This allowed me to have an understanding of both in-class work and develop myself outside of class. Blog one made me realize that we research everyday and dont even realize it. I applied my attendance of Valley Forge to the questions and made parallels between the admissions process and the research process. I never realized that I when picking the school I had help from outside resource While researching I had a lot of help from counselors, peers, my parents, and mentors. (cadetname Blog 1) If it wasnt for that blog I would of never been able to realize the importance of the research process. Writing blogs has advanced my writing skills exponentially. Reflecting on my work and pre-planning while writing blogs has opened up a whole new perspective of writing papers. With peer-feedback like in Blog 12 where we considered peer-review of our work it developed me as a writer. From the little feedback I received, many liked it and were impressed. (cadetname Blog 12) I was able to think about the feedback I had and give me a positive boost in my writing skills. In specific moments like getting feedback from peers it grew me as a writer by giving me a new perspective of audience and peers. Nothing has grown me more as a writer than writing reflection blogs. Blog 5 is a perfect example of this. Blog 5 was the reflection assignment for the mini-research project. Usually after I complete an assignment I fire and forget. Meaning that I just turn in an assignment and forget the lessons learned throughout. Reflecting allowed me to use the lessons learned and implement them in future projects. I still need to work on applying it to other classes. Using for example, the LASC center, during my research process and reading through my assignment and reflecting with the tutors helped me a lot get a general focus on what I wanted. Throughout the year I have learned a lot about professional writing and the importance of doing the steps in the research process. Usually I go into things unplanned and I dont focus on the nitty-gritty. But focusing on the outline, or your audience really helps make your paper better. If I could change anything about English 102 it would be the end of the year textbook questions on conclusions and introductions, I did not think they helped me create my paragraphs. I enjoyed myself throughout the year and learned a lot and the professor did a very good job of helping us and answering all questions I had.
