REGRET

Smith thought that his regret would make up for his actions. He was mistaken.

“Thoughts are the shad-ows of our feelings - always darker, empiter, and simpler.“

- Nietzsche

Whenever I feel angry, sad, happy, or any other emotion, I always think about why I feel that way. Generally, I overthink things. Especially when I’m angry. Anger is a feeling that doesn’t really go away. It may decrease but it always resides in the heart.

Thus, anger towards someone or something makes us think thoughts of hatred and unhappiness. Ultimately, our thoughts proceed our actions and our feelings proceed our thoughts.

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.” - Vonnegut

Are you someone who observes from a distance? Someone who observes at the scene? Someone who takes part in the scene? Does this distance define who you are? Does it give you more insight about the world?

“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ul-timately our own responsibility.“ - Eleanor Roosevelt

“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential.

Without courage,

we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency.

We can’t be kind, true,

merciful, generous, or honest.” - Angelou

I believe everyone is born with the potential to be courageous. Everyone can be coura-geous although it is difficult for many people due to their fears. Fears are good to have because they give us the opportunity to be courageous so that we can be kind, true, generous, merciful, and honest people. Courage is needed to overcome obstacles in life. Without it, an individual cannot move forward in life. The ability to be courageous is something humans need to develop within themselves. We can all try to be courageous but only a few succeed. In my opinion, in order to have courage, either one has to have

no fear or one has to be separated from a certain emotion.

“The Beautiful, is what is well formed and aestheti-cally pleasing, whereas the Sublime is what has the power to compel and destroy us.“ - Burke

‘Cause beauty ain’t about the outside.Beauty ain’t ‘bout the starlight.Beauty ain’t ‘bout the sunshine.Beauty is about the mind.

AMPLIFIEDTo be caveman again... To see the world in a much simpler light. To wake up whenever I so please and then go hunting and berry-picking. To eat food with family and then go hunting and berry-picking again. To sit next to a fire that I made and share stories with my friends and family. To not have to worry about nuances such as college applications or careers or high school. To have much simpler problems and solve them one step at a time. To not have to focus so much on the future but rather the now. Ah, to

be caveman again.
