Classic & Deluxe The integrated headrail system used on your Great Windows Mini-Blinds is designed to eliminate the need for a separate snap on valance, and to provide the aesthetic enhancement of concealed brackets. Now that your brackets are installed, make certain that the tab on the bottom of each bracket is extended to the front, so that it is pointing straight toward you (Fig. 1). Angling the headrail slightly back, position the bottom of the headrail on top of the tab, and the front inner lip of the headrail into the notch between the prongs (Fig. 2). Push the headrail straight back into the brackets, one bracket at a time (push back at the location of the bracket), until the headrail snaps securely into place at each bracket (Fig. 3). Basic Tilt and slip the inside lip of the headrail into the swivel brackets’ hooks as shown (Fig. 1b). Raise back of headrail so that it fits completely inside of bracket (Fig. 2b). If your blinds were measured to the edge of the trim (Standard OB): Position the first bracket as shown, so that the top is aligned with the upper edge of the window trim. (If your window uses colonial trim, it is okay for the top of the bracket to be slightly above the top edge of the trim, so that screw holes are on the flat surface of the trim.) If the width of your blind is 34 inches or more, this bracket should be placed so that the left edge of the bracket is seven (7) inches from the left edge of the window trim. (This placement is important, and will keep the bracket from interfering with the operating system of your blind.) If the width of your blind is less than 34 inches, this bracket should be placed so that the left edge is five (5) inches from the left edge of the window trim.
Once properly positioned, install with two of the screws provided, driving the screws, from the front, through the back side of the bracket, into the front surface of the window trim.
Repeat the procedure to install the second bracket. Placement should be so that the right edge of the bracket is seven (7) inches from the right edge of the window frame. (Five (5) inches for blinds less than 34 inches wide.)
After these first two brackets are installed on the front surface of the window trim, install any remaining brackets at approximate even intervals. Avoid placing brackets at same location as the blind’s ladders, as this will interfere with the operation of the blind. This is easily accomplished by locating the remaining brackets a couple of inches to either side of the even interval. Precise location of these brackets is not critical.
After all brackets are installed, it is time to install the blind into the brackets.
Once properly positioned, install with two of the provided screws, driving them upward through the underside of the top of the bracket, into the under- side of the top of the window frame.
Repeat the procedure to install the second bracket. Placement should be so that the right edge of the bracket is seven (7) inches from the right inside edge of the window frame. If the width of your blind is less than 34 inches, this bracket should be placed so that the left edge is five (5) inches from the inside of the window frame. After these first two brackets are installed into the underside of the window frame opening, install any remaining brackets at approximate even intervals. Avoid placing brackets at same location as the blind’s ladders, as this will interfere with the operation of the blind. Position the first bracket as shown, so that the top is placed against the underside of the upper window frame opening. If the width of your blind is 34 inches or more, place the bracket so the left edge of the bracket is seven(7) inches from the left inside edge of the window frame opening.

Important Note: Screws provided are for installation into wooden frames only. For metal surfaces, use suitable sheet metal screws and pre-drill holes. For concrete, stone, brick, or tile, use a carbide drill and appropriate anchors and screws. For wallboard or plaster, use hollow wall anchors and/or longer screws to reach framing or stud.In all cases, follow the fastener manufacturer’s recommendations.
