In the month of March the St. Philip Sunday School children and youth will be studying:

Birth-Age 2 will hear Bible stories that are designed for young learners.

Ages 2 years thru Pre K are studying “Zacchaeus” from the Hands on Bible curriculum.

Ages K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade are using the Growing with Grace and Gratitude curriculum, which is rooted in the foundation of Presbyterian identity where God's grace and our gratitude are the heartbeat of our faith, life, and worship. This curriculum extends an invitation to discipleship that inspires children to learn and practice hospitality, generosity, and love. It reaches beyond Sunday morning, encouraging children to live their lives as an expression of God's grace.

Jr. High & Sr. High will be using Feasting on the Word, which provides opportunities for this age group to explore their personal and communal identity in Jesus Christ through meaningful community-building experiences, engaging Bible study, and relevant learning activities. Biblical stories will come alive in new and creative ways. In response to God’s amazing, unconditional love, youth will be challenged to put their faith into action as they grow to understand themselves as Christ’s disciples.

  • Note of the Week………………

The Chancel Choir has been saddened by the recent death of one of its members— Paula Juengerman! She was a 50 year member of St. Philip Church and sang in the choir until her passing on March 14, 2016. If I were to put into words what she meant to us, I would say that she was so amazingly dedicated to our choir and the church, and never missed rehearsals or Sunday morning worship! She loved music and played many different instruments. Paula also served on the Worship Committee and led the St. Philip Presbyterian Church Women’s organization in a teaching capacity on many occasions. I had the great fortune of driving Paula to a concert in Ft. Worth two days before her heart episode. As we were driving, we had great conversations about her mother and father, her education (quite impressive), and how she met John. She was so mentally sharp, and we discussed politics with great gusto! All of us will greatly miss her in our “alto” section of the choir. Her folder and music number in the choir slots was number one, and that is how she will remain in our hearts! The Chancel Choir sang at Paula’s memorial service the hymn, “It Is Well with My Soul” arranged by Craig Courtney, and I believe she is singing in the “great choir” in heaven even as you read this! The Chancel Choir is also dedicating our concert, Schubert’s Mass in G, in her memory on April 24, 2016. Please come and remember our dearest Paula Juengerman. “The Spring Concert” on April 24th ( see ad) is made up of our own Chancel Choir and the Regal Opera Chorale. They will be combining to sing the beautiful Mass in G by Schubert with soloists Jennifer Stark, Sonya Hood, Monica Dane, Joe Davisson and Luis Rodriguez. The second part of the concert will all be American music. The Chancel Choir will sing the folk music “Skip to My Lou,” “Danny Boy,” “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” “Deep River,” and “Old Dan Tucker.” Then the Regal Opera Chorale will sing all jazz tunes—“The Shadow of your Smile,” “Satin Doll,” “Solitude,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It ain’t Got That Swing),” and the “Pink Panther”! Whew! It is a lot of fun music! Don’t miss this great concert! Lend your ear and support our choirs—Sunday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall! See you in church on Sunday. Joyfully Singing in Christ, Pam Cochrane

Participating in the February event: 21 schools with over 350 students performed, donated personal art, or volunteered, 7 local restaurants (Abuelos, Bacon’s Bistro, Chop House Burgers, Witten’s Grill, Miguelitos, Chicken Place, and Rosako’s Soul Food) donated food and services, several HEB-ISD school board members and administrators including HEB ISD Superintendent Steve Chapman and School Board President, Ellen Jones were in attendance, and Big Frog T-Shirts of Euless donated free T shirts to all the students. A Special thank you to SPPC’s own: food court, security, and event volunteers, “Bubbles” Bob Urban, Paul Demer, Mike Ellis, Pam Cochrane and the Jr. Chime Choir for helping to entertain the masses, the SPPC pastors and office staff for their continuous support. Reminder for us all…

You have heard it said that cleanliness is next to Godliness. While this is not a Biblical quote, we still find that we are called to be good stewards of all that is in our care. The church kitch-en is in the care of the whole congregation. Please be sure to wash dishes and clean up after events. Even if the mess is not your own, let us help each other out and keep the facilities clean.
