BLESSING In the beginning God created all things and saw that they were good. As you go forth this week, know that you, too, are loved and created good by God. Each and every day God creates something new. In the freshness of each and every morning there is newness of life, newness of hope, newness of love, and this is yours by God’s grace. Go bravely into this week, knowing that you are in the company of an everlasting, creative God who holds out to you an amazing, wondrous world. Go in peace, and serve the Lord. Thanks be to God. SONG Amazing Grace Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed! Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come; ‘tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. Welcome

song We Are All One in Christ

We are all one in Christ, we are one body,All one people out of many.We are all one in Christ, we are one body,All one people out of many.

There is one God and only one Lord; There is one faith, one holy love. There is one baptism, there is one Spirit,Who is God the comforter.

call to Worship

As followers of Christ, we are called to bringa hopeful understanding of our worlddeclaring that God called the created universe “good.”

We are called to bring this hope in Godwith us wherever we godeclaring that God makes all things new again.

Jesus taught that we are to love God and love one another. So let’s join together in our love of God to worship and give thanks.

the apostles’ creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

song of praise Let All Things Now Living

Let all things now living a song of thanksgivingTo God the creator triumphantly raise,Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,Who still guides us on to the end of our days,God’s banners are o’er us, God’s light goes before us,A pillar of fire shining forth in the night,Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,as forward we travel from light into light.

God rules all the forces, the stars in their coursesAnd sun in its orbit obediently shine; The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,The deeps of the ocean proclaim God divine. We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing; With glad adoration, a song let us raiseTill all things now living unite in thanksgiving,“To God in the highest, hosanna and praise!”

storytime

scripture Luke 1:1-2:4a

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, Let there be light. And there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness was called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. And God said, Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters. So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together God called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, Let the earth put forth vegetation. And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. And God said, Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night. And it was so. God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. And God said, Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.

So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind. And it was so. God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over all the earth. So God created humankind in God’s image, in the image of God they were created, and God blessed them. And it was so. God saw everything that God had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God.

song Arise, Shine

Arise, shine, for your light has come.Arise, shine, for your light has come.

Nations will come and kings will bowAs the glory of God shines on you.Lift up your hearts, lift up your voice,See the King of kings, the Lord of hosts,See the Prince of Peace shine on you.

prayers

the lord’s prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen
