Lady Panthers “Rein In” District 27-AA Track Title Blanco Qualifies 12 Students for Regional Meet; Baseball, Softball Games Rained Out

The Lady Panther track team, overcoming rain, delays, and

the two-time state champion Randolph Ro-Hawks, formidably

willed themselves to the District 27-AA track championship in

competition held on Thursday at Randolph Air Force Base.

“All these girls have a lot of heart!” said Head Coach Brandi Mumme. “They are willing to dig deep and compete when it

counts. I am so proud of all of them!”

The Panthers’ road to victory included a dominating per-

formance in the field events, followed up with a gutsy running

display to hold off the two-time state champs on the track. The

Panthers ended the meet with 158 points, to out-distance the

second place Ro-Hawks’ 147.

Athletic Director Danny Rogers said, “I don’t believe we’ve

ever won a District girls track championship since I’ve been

here. Those two coaches (Brandi Mumme and Amy Hackebeil)

do a fantastic job.”

The Girls JV team also won their district, scoring 209 points. Coach Mumme said, “We really came together as a team.

They did a great job supporting each other in each of their

events. We would not have

this success without the help

of Coach Hackebeil, Coach

Balmos, and Coach Lester.”

The Boys track team fin-

ished fifth in its division.

District 27-AA Girls Track Champions Following Win at Randolph on Thursday..

Baseball and Softball The Blanco baseball and softball games vs. Johnson City

scheduled for tonight have been postponed due to rain.

Boys Coach Bryan Wyatt said, “It’s a huge game for us. We

are a game behind Johnson City and Comfort, and a win over the Eagles could clinch second place for the Panthers.”

Girls Coach Mike Seales said, “We’re leading the District

with two games left, but we still need to face Johnson City who

is 4—1. We can wrap up the District Championship by beating

them. We will have to have a solid performance.”

800-meter winner Abby Beard,

Coach Scott Balmos, Lap 2.
