“Hear Ye, Hear Ye!” The Blanco ISD
(L to R) Cheyenne Harber, Kylie Leachman, and Ariel Huether gather information at the Austin College Fair.
Blanco ISD Goal # 1:
BISD graduates will be
college and post-high
school ready.
On Tuesday, the Blanco High School junior class was
loaded onto buses and taken to the Austin Convention Center
to participate in one of the biggest college fairs in the state.
The Austin National College Fair attracted recruiters from
188 colleges and universities not only from around the na-tion, but from around the world.
Colleges represented spanned the U. S., from Hawaii Pa-
cific University to Bates College in Maine, and from the
University of Alaska at Anchorage to the University of South
Florida. International
universities from
Spain, Switzerland,
Rome, England, Scot-
land, and Canada were
also represented.
“This was an excel-
lent experience for our students,” said High
School principal Dustin Barton. “There were colleges there from
all over. It allowed our students to expand their horizons in re-
gards to college opportunities.”
Junior student Ariel Huether said, “This was a great experi-
ence. It was very informative, and helped me make my college decision!”
Superintendent Dr. Buck Ford said, “This is a great opportunity
for our students. Even though Blanco is in a rural area, we don’t
want that to limit our
students’ exposure to
the higher education
resources that are avail-
able to them.”

Lady Panthers “Rein In” District 27-AA Track Title Blanco Qualifies 12 Students for Regional Meet; Baseball, Softball Games Rained Out
The Lady Panther track team, overcoming rain, delays, and
the two-time state champion Randolph Ro-Hawks, formidably
willed themselves to the District 27-AA track championship in
competition held on Thursday at Randolph Air Force Base.
“All these girls have a lot of heart!” said Head Coach Brandi Mumme. “They are willing to dig deep and compete when it
counts. I am so proud of all of them!”
The Panthers’ road to victory included a dominating per-
formance in the field events, followed up with a gutsy running
display to hold off the two-time state champs on the track. The
Panthers ended the meet with 158 points, to out-distance the
second place Ro-Hawks’ 147.
Athletic Director Danny Rogers said, “I don’t believe we’ve
ever won a District girls track championship since I’ve been
here. Those two coaches (Brandi Mumme and Amy Hackebeil)
do a fantastic job.”
The Girls JV team also won their district, scoring 209 points. Coach Mumme said, “We really came together as a team.
They did a great job supporting each other in each of their
events. We would not have
this success without the help
of Coach Hackebeil, Coach
Balmos, and Coach Lester.”
The Boys track team fin-
ished fifth in its division.
District 27-AA Girls Track Champions Following Win at Randolph on Thursday..
Baseball and Softball The Blanco baseball and softball games vs. Johnson City
scheduled for tonight have been postponed due to rain.
Boys Coach Bryan Wyatt said, “It’s a huge game for us. We
are a game behind Johnson City and Comfort, and a win over the Eagles could clinch second place for the Panthers.”
Girls Coach Mike Seales said, “We’re leading the District
with two games left, but we still need to face Johnson City who
is 4—1. We can wrap up the District Championship by beating
them. We will have to have a solid performance.”
800-meter winner Abby Beard,
Coach Scott Balmos, Lap 2.
