Stay GoldenStay Golden
02STAYGOLDENAlyssa Vandeman12
Golden are your years spent in high school.Golden are your feelings coming home.
Golden are the life-long friendships.Golden are the years to come.
Many colors make up the lives of Blair High. We cheer purple and laugh in blackand white, but mostly we stay golden. Staying golden means staying true anddauntless. Through lost lives and hardships, Bears stayed strong through the last 100 volumes of
memories. We are timeless, spirited, and golden.

S e n i o r s'S e n i o r s'Senior night was a chance to look back. It
was a night for playing hard while still beinghumble and showing good sportsmanship. Itwas a night for remembering all of theconditioning, morning practices, healthy habitsand late night games. It was a night for laughs, tears, and most importantly, cheers. "On senior night I felt like all my hard workon the field led up to my night, and I wanted toshow everyone how good I was in my finalgame," senior Jordan Brown said. "All that wasrunning through my mind was that this was itand don't mess it up." A lot ran through the minds of seniors onthat special night. Not only did they have thegame to focus on, they couldn't help but thinkabout how this might have been their last timeplaying the sport they love. "On senior night, I was pretty sad because itwas my last year being able to play, but I had alot of support from our fans and the rest of myteam, so they made it a happy moment for me,"senior Delaney English said. Senior Jaedyn Morris agreed with English. "I was really happy it was senior night, but Iwas also really sad because it was our last homegame," Morris said. "That really hit me when wewere shaking hands at the end of the game."Story by Allie Anderson

LesMiserables
P risoners, love birds, and revenge-seekingofficers, were all portrayed Oct. 13 atthe musical's first public showing of Les
Miserables for the students of Gerald OtteMiddle School. Jean Valjean, played by senior NickNelsen, is freed by officer Javert (senior SamRosenau) who is in charge of the prisonValjean is being held at. Valjean, who wasprisoner number 24601, soon after breaksparole and uses stolen silver to rebuild himselfas a factory owner. Relentlessly, Javertpromises himself he will find Valjean someday. “It was a lot more serious piece this year, but the cast members would still make jokes,”senior student director Sarah Van Horn said. Although heartbreaking, the actors in LesMiserables kept an upbeat tone to their play
while sticking to the sorrowful story line.During the “Master of the House” scene, chuckles filled the auditorium when twonot-so-welcoming innkeepers scam theirignorant guests. Still the play brought a tearto the eyes of viewers as if the characterswere friends they knew their whole life. “This is the most talented cast I haveever worked with,” senior Sarah Koch said. Just when all seems good, the story linethrows curve balls at the audience thatcould break even an ogre's heart. "Les Miserables is definitely a play thateveryone will remember for a long time,"senior cast member Seth Kobs said. With a full pit orchestra and a diversecast, the musical feeling captured in LesMiserables was nothing less than magical.Story by Brooke Kobs
