MUSIC TOGETHERages birth to kindergartenMusic Together is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed early childhood music and movement program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their accompanying adults. Sing, play rhythm instruments and move along with your child or children (siblings can be together in the same class) as you experience this joyful, research-based curriculum that supports children’s cognitive, social, physical, verbal and musical development.

Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. They can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and participate with confidence, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Receive an illustrated songbook filled with music-making ideas and two new CD’s—one for home and one for on-the-go or grandma’s house, as well as a code to digitally download and/or stream the music.

Infants under eight months on the first day of the session are free with a paying sibling. The cut off birth date for infant siblings to be free of charge is those born on or after Jan. 20, 2015. Visit a FREE demonstration class before the fall session starts to find out if Music Together is a good fit for your family. For more information or specific questions about the classes, call or e-mail director Clarice Auluck-Wilson at 651-439-4219, or [email protected], or visit www.MusicTogetherClasses.com.

THE CHURCH BASEMENT LADIESat the Plymouth PlayhouseWe’re bringing the original back to celebrate ten years of laughter, toe-tapping music and touching memories that will once again make you laugh and cry all the way home. From Pioneer Press Writer, Kathy Berdan - The Church Basement Ladies is based on the popular “Growing Up Lutheran” books by Minnesota authors Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson. “Church Basement Ladies” is set in 1964 in the fictional town of East Cornucopia, Minn. The story, written by Jessica Zuehlke and Jim Stowell, follows a quartet of women and their pastor as they dish on and dish out to their church community through weddings, funerals and crises like (gasp!) interfaith marriage. The tunes in the musical poke fun at menopause, the differences between Catholics and Lutherans (“They glorified Mary / We glorified rice”) and that place of sin and debauchery known as “The Cities.” Lunch included prior to the show. HELP END PARK VANDALISMThe Blaine Police Department and Park Patrol need your help to prevent vandalism and apprehend those who vandalize parks and recreation facilities. Vandals destroy what tax dollars have created. Costs associated with repairing vandalized property takes money away from recreational programs and facilities. Help stop vandalism. Always call 9-1-1 to report a crime in progress, including vandalism. To report a crime that occurred in a park but does not require immediate police response, call 763-427-1212. Calls are accepted 24 hours a day and you can remain anonymous.

The Parks and Recreation Department strives to provide community programs and services where unmet interests and needs exist, and to promote cooperation with schools, athletic and civic organizations, community agencies, and interested individuals in the areas of education, recreation and social and cultural pursuits.
