History of BLAIDS

Established in 1991 in response to high rates of HIV/AIDS infections and low admission rates to four-year universities in the Black and Latino communities.

The goal of BLAIDS is educating the Black and Latino communities about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and the pursuit of higher education.

The Black Latino AIDS Project (BLAIDS) is a collaboration between two campus organizations Black Pre-Health Organization (BPHO) Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine (CCM).

+Volunteering with BLAIDS

BLAIDS volunteers do not have to be members of either of the mother organizations as long as they attend a BLAIDS training (held at the beginning of each quarter), or attend a director’s office hour.

The BLAIDS office is in SAC 106E with all of the other health empowerment organizations of the Community Programs Office.
