Welcome to Blackberry
To begin your blackberry device, you must setup and turn on the device, connect to the wireless network, and setup your supportedemail account.
You can also choose to install the blackberry Desktop software so that you can connect your device to your computer for datasynchronization and charging.

Setting of Device:
Insert the SIM card:Your SIM card contains important information about your wireless service. Your SIM card might be inserted already.
Press the battery cover and release button,
Side off the battery cover,
If the battery is inserted remove it,
Hold the SIM card with the metal contacts facing down so that the notches on the card align with the notches on your device,
Slide the SIM card in to the holder,
Continue to slide the SIM card in to the holder until it stops,
To remove the SIM card, press gently on the top of the SIM card and slide it out of the holder.

Insert the battery :
Press the battery cover release the button.
Slide off the battery cover.
Insert the battery so that connectors on the battery align with connectors on your device.
Replace the battery cover.
Note:
When you turn on the device, device will conform the date and time dialog box
appears. If the date and time are incorrect, click Edit. See “Set the date and time “

Message Setting

Send email Messages:You must set up a supported email account to use with your device with before you cansend and receive email messages.
Choose your email setup option. In the messages list, click the Track-pad, Click Compose Email. In the ‘To field’, add the email address or a contact name. In case if you do not know the email address, there is a look up option available. On selecting ‘Lookup’
you can get the desired email address. Type a message. Click the Track-pad. Click Send.
Send PIN Message:A personal identity number (PIN) uniquely identifies each blackberry device on the network. If you know the PIN of another Blackberry device user, you can send a PIN message to that userTo find your PIN, in the device Click Status:In the message list, click the Track-pad, Click compose PIN, In the To field, type the PIN or a Contact name,Type a massage, Click the Track-pad, Click Send.

Send SMS (text) Messages In the message list, click the Track-pad,
Click compose SMS,
Click [Use Once],
Click SMS,
Type an SMS- compatible phone number/ or choose from saved contacts,
Click the Track-pad, Click Continue,
Type a message,
Click the Track-pad, Click Send,
Add Contacts In the address book , Click the Track-pad
Click the Menu key
Click the NEW Contact.
Type the Contact information.
Click the Track-pad
Click Save.

Send MMS (Multimedia) Messages In the message list, click the Track-pad.
Click compose MMS
Click [Use Once]
Click MMS
Select a sending method for your MMS message
Type an MMS compatible phone number or an email message
Click the Track-pad
Click Continue
Type a massage

Click Attach address, Attach Appointment, OR Attach Picture
Click Continue

LookupBlackberry has a feature called ‘Lookup’ which can provide you with a person’s contactdetails like email address, phone number, PIN number, etc. These details have beensynchronized with Lotus Contacts, so please update the relevant information in Lotus.
Step-by-step procedure for looking up a person’s details is mentioned below:
Email Lookup:
Click the Menu key.
Click compose email.
Type the name in ‘To’ field.
Select ‘Lookup’ for retrieving matching list.
Contact Lookup:
Press the menu key.
Scroll down and click ‘View contact’.
This will give you the person’s email address, mobile number, PIN number of the device, etc.

Set a Device Password In the device option , Click the Track-pad Click the General Setting. Set the password field to Enabled. Set the other security option. Click the Track-pad, Click Save. Type a device password. Click the Track-pad Retype a device password. Click the Track-pad and your password is set.
Lock and unlock the device With a device password set, on the home screen, Click Lock. To unlock your device, on the Lock screen, roll the Track-pad. Click Unlock. Type the Password, Press the Enter key.

Set the Date and Time In the device option, click the Date/Time.
Set the Time Zone Option.
Set the Time zone field.
Click the Track-pad
Clicks update Time.
Click the Track-pad
Click Save.
Enable ProfilesIn the profiles list, click a notification profile, Click Enable.

Welcome to Blackberry MessengerBlackberry Messenger enables you to chat with other Blackberry wirelessdevice users in real time using your Blackberry device. To use BlackberryMessenger, you must have the Blackberry Messenger program installedon your device.
Log in to Blackberry Messenger:
First time users of Blackberry Messenger must specify a display namethat identifies them to other users. They must also create the Password.
After creating a display name and password, you are logged inautomatically, when your Blackberry device turn on, and connected to thewireless network.

Add the Contact
On the Contact List screen, Click the Track pad
Click add a Contact.
Click [Use Once].
Click Request by E mail or PIN.
Type an email address or PIN.
Press the Enter key.
Add a message.
Click OK.
Manage contacts To remove a contact from your contact list.
Click the contact on the Contact list screen.
Click delete Contact.
Click delete.
Manage groups To add a group from your contact list.
Click the Track-pad
Clicks add group.
Type a name.
Click OK
To Move contact one group to another Click the Contact from your contact list screen.
Click Move.
Select a group.

To Remove a contact group Click a group name from your contact list screen.
Click delete group.
Click delete.
Send an Instant Message Click the Contact from your contact list screen.
Click Start Conversation.
Type a Message.
Press the Enter key.
Open an existing Conversation On the contact list screen.
Click a Contact.
Click open Conversation.
Click the Track-pad
Click invite to invite additional users.
End Conversation Click the Track-pad
Click end Conversation.
Set your Availability Status Click the track wheel on the contact list screen.
If your status is currently “Available “.
Click Available
If your Status is currently “Unavailable”.
Click Unavailable.
Click OK
Set your Availability alert To receive notification when a contact is available
Click an Unavailable contact on the contact list screen.
Click Set Alert to turn on availability alert.
Click Clear Alert to turn off availability alert.

Transfer Contacts from Device to Outlook

Procedure to Transfer the Mobile Contacts to MS OutlookConnect you HH with your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is connected with
BES server then you need to turn off wireless synchronization. 1. In the installed Blackberry Manager software in your PC / laptop click Synchronize button on

5. Click on you organizer apps (like, MS outlook, Lotus notes etc)
Select desired apps select Synchronization and click OK twice go back to Synchronize tab click on Synchronize Now.
6.The above setup for transfer the Blackberry Handel Contacts to MS outlook procedure. Reference of the above 4 picture if select the Tow way sync the Data will flow in booth the side (Outlook BB Handel.)
Blackberry Handset Problems:
1.Network Selection is not automatically picking up.
2.Handset is very slow.
3.If mail sent by blackberry, is not going properly. The same mail is showing in the handset is sent, but the mail are not sent.
4.Some times sent mails are received after 3 or 4 days. And the same mails are visible in the inbox twice.
Action:
1.Check the handset Menu Option Network and select Network as Manual and select your network (IDEA).
2.Handset is slow.
3.To do so go to Address Book -> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No -> click Menu and Save the changes.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I compose an email or PIN message from the To screen?
To compose a message . Click [Use Once] the Track-pad. Click Email or PIN or incase if email address is not known select ‘Lookup’ Type an email address or a PIN. Click the Track-pad. Click Continue.
To add multiple recipients to your message, Click the Track-pad. Click Add To, Add Cc, or Add Bcc. Click Continue.

Why can’t I send messages? Verify that you are in a wireless coverage area and that your BlackBerry® device is
connected to the wireless network .
Can I stop a message from being sent? Yes, provided that you are not in a wireless coverage area or that your BlackBerry®
device is not connected to the wireless network. If a clock icon appears beside the message, delete the message to stop it from being sent.
If you are in a wireless coverage area and your device is connected to the wireless network, messages should be sent automatically, so you cannot stop the message from being sent.
Can I file messages? Yes. If you have turned on wireless email reconciliation for your BlackBerry® device,
any messages that you file on your device are also filed in your desktop email program.

Why were some of my messages deleted from the device?
If your BlackBerry® device memory is full, your device deletes the oldest messages from the messages list to accommodate new ones. It does not delete saved messages.
How do I stop email messages from being sent to my device? If you are using the BlackBerry Desktop Software, in the Redirector Settings tool,
clear the Redirect incoming messages to your handheld check box. If your BlackBerry® device is integrated with an account that uses BlackBerry
Enterprise Server™ version 4.0 or later, in the messages options, click Email Settings. Set the Send Email To Handheld field to No.
How do I stop messages that are sent from my desktop email program from appearing on my device? In the messages options, click Email Settings. Click the track-wheel. Click Folder
Redirection. Clear the check box beside the Sent Items folder.

SMS Messages
Can I verify that my SMS message has reached its recipients? Yes. In the device options, click SMS. Set the Delivery Reports field to On. When your SMS message reaches its recipient, a D appears beside the check mark in
a messages list.
Can I hide sent messages? Yes. Messages options. Click General Options. Set the Hide Sent Messages field to Yes. Click Save.

AttachmentsHow do I view password-protected file attachments? On the attachment screen, Click the file name. Click Password. Type the password. Click the Track-pad.
Can I set the amount of memory that my device uses for file attachments? Yes. In the open attachment, click the Track-pad. Click Options. Set the Cache Size
field.
How do I change how file attachments are displayed? Click the Track-pad. Click Options. Set the Font Family and Font Size fields. Click Save.

Phone
How do I make calls from the Home screen? In the phone options, Click General Options. Verify that the Dial From Home Screen field is set to ‘Yes’. Click Save
Please Note: You can make calls from the Home screen, but you cannot use Home screen shortcuts.
How do I edit the phone number to which my calls are forwarded? To edit a call forwarding phone number that you have added, delete the current phone
number and type a new phone number.
Can I set the phone to display frequently called numbers? Yes. You can set the phone to display a list of frequently or recently called numbers
instead of call logs. In the phone options, click General Options. Set the Phone List View field.

How do I stop my device from answering or ending calls automatically? If you use a holster with your BlackBerry® device, you can set how calls are handled
when you insert or remove your device from the holster.
To stop your device from answering calls automatically when you remove it from the holster, in the phone options, Click General Options. Set the Auto Answer . Calls field to No. Click Save.
To stop your device from ending calls automatically when you insert it in the holster, Phone options. Click General Options. Set the Auto End Calls field to “No” Click Save.

Contacts
How do I add multiple contacts with the same name to my contact list? In the address book options, Set the Allow Duplicate Names field to Yes, Save the changes.
Can I clear all the categories that apply to a contact, task, or memo? Click the Track-pad. Click Categories. Click the Track-pad. Click Clear Selection. Save the changes.
How do I know how many contacts, calendar entries, tasks, or memos I have saved?
In the address book, calendar, tasks, or memo options, the Number of Entries field displays how many contacts, calendar entries, tasks, or memos are saved.

How do I expand the number of hours that are shown in the calendar? In the calendar options. Set the Start Of Day and End Of Day fields. Save the changes.
How do I scroll through the calendar in each view?In Day view, Roll the Track-pad . Roll the Track-pad Select a day in the navigation bar. Click the track-wheel to view the selected day. Hold the Alt key and roll the track-wheel to move from one day to the next.In Week view, Roll the Track-pad. Hold the Alt key and roll the track-wheel to move horizontally through the days of the
week.

How do I change which browser opens when I click a link in an open message?
Click Device options. Click Advanced Options. Click Browser. Set the Default browser configuration field. Save the changes.
On my browser home page, when I hold the Escape button, the program closes. Can I change this? Yes. Click Browser options. Click General Properties. Select the Prompt Before Closing Browser On Escape check box. A dialog box appears before the browser closes.
