Holy Donut Trailer Out for Refurbishment!
Following the last major snowfall of the 2014-2015 season, our Holy Donut trailer was dug out
of the ice and snow and unloaded for the trip to Holman Motors in Batavia, OH. The service
department is diligently working to refurbish and replace parts to make it like new for the up-
coming donut season. These repairs were approved at the Home Corporation meeting last Octo-
ber. This is the first major repair work since the trailer was built in March 2006.

Finally! The snows are gone and now thoughts are turning to Spring and Donut Season
(thought I was going to mention baseball??). Yes the Holy Donut trailer is in the process
of being repaired and refurbished, and will be ready to roll for another great fair and festi-
val season. Originally built especially for us in March, 2006, we’ve made thousands and
thousand of donuts and in turn have made an impact on our community through our chari-
table works. Church of the Good Shepherd in Appalachia, St. Vincent DePaul societies at
IHM, St. Paul and All Saints; Rose Garden Mission, Carenet, Mary Rose Mission Kitchen,
Starz, Youth 2000, the Diocese of Covington, Boy Scouts and American Heritage Girls, the
Parish Kitchen and Emergency Shelter have all benefitted from our works. Thank you to
all who have worked our donut events and to the chairmen who have coordinated the peo-
ple and the product. I especially want to thank Brother Keith Cahill for his management of
the trailer over the years and his continued efforts!
Next month on April 27th, mark your calendars to attend our Mass and Social at IHM be-
ginning at 7 pm. I’m excited to have Brother Knight and State Senator John Schickel as
our guest speaker following mass to provide an update on this year’s legislative session in
Frankfort.
Being primarily in the Cincinnati media market, it’s sometimes difficult to know or to find
out what is happening down state at the Capitol. I’m looking forward to learning more of
the issues and legislation that was considered and passed and I invite all to attend this in-
formative event.
Also mark your calendars for May 9th at 8 am at Boone Links for our annual Kenny Hill
Memorial golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics. $85 per player. See Emery Kocsis,
Gary Thomson or Don Ward for more information. And yes, the first donut event is May
16-17 at IHM for Boy Scout Troop 727. Happy Spring!
Family of the Month: The Rich Malsi Family!
In addition, Brother Rich is also Deacon
Rich, having been installed as a perma-
nent Deacon at IHM parish.
He assists our Council Chaplain, Father
Norton, at our monthly Mass and Social.
Recently, he assisted Father Norton
with the blessing of the display case
crafted by Brothers Larry Cahill and
Chuck Hitter which houses our statue of
Mary.
Each month, we will recognize one
outstanding Council Family as our
Family of the Month. This family will
be entered into a drawing to win a Holy
Family Statuette from Supreme. This
month’s family is the Richard Malsi
Family.
Brother Rich has been a member of our
council since 2013. He first joined the
Order in 1981.

Notice to All K of C Chairpersons Planning an Upcoming Event at Acree Hall
Brother Rick Wells, our Acree Hall rental coordinator, has informed us that there is a surplus of paper products,
snacks, beer and soft drinks. He is asking for anyone planning an upcoming K of C event to please call him or his wife
Peggy before purchasing more of these items. These types of items tend to be like the multiplication of loaves and be-
fore you know it you have 12 baskets full. You can reach Rick at 586-5575 or [email protected] .
Bishop Accepts Checks for Seminarians from Councils
On March 11th, local councils presented Bishop
Roger Foys with checks to continue our on-going
support of our seminarians. Bishop Ackerman
Council is blessed and honored to be able to sup-
port 5 seminarians who have answered the call to
the priesthood. We currently assist: Eric
Boelscher (due to be ordained this year), David
Hellmann, Samuel Rodgers, Louis Senn and Da-
vid Godbey. Brother Terry Kidwell (second from
the right), Worthy Warden for our council, was
on hand to present our checks. Thank you, Broth-
er Terry for representing our council!
HAPPY FOUNDER’S DAY! 133 YEARS OF SERVICE
On March 29, 1882, the Order of the Knights of Columbus was officially incor-
porated and recognized by the state of Connecticut. Father Michael J.
McGivney, an assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, CT, pro-
posed establishing a lay organization, the goal of which would be to prevent
Catholic men from entering secret societies whose membership was antithetical
to Church teaching, to unite men of Catholic faith and to provide for the fami-
lies of deceased members. While Father McGivney passed away in 1890, his
foresight laid the foundation for an order that thrives today with over 15,0000
councils and almost 2 million members in the Americas, Europe and the Pacif-
ic Rim. On March 16, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI approves a decree of heroic
virtue for Father Michael J. McGivney, declaring him “Venerable” and thus
continuing his cause for sainthood.

Good of the Order
Council delegates and alternates were selected for the Kentucky Knights of Columbus State Convention to be held in Louisville,
KY on May 15-17. Grand Knight David White and Deputy Grand Knight John Doubrava are our delegates and Brothers Den-
nis Longwell and Lou Masur were chosen as alternates.
The council presented a resolution to be considered at the state convention and to be submitted to the Supreme Convention in
Philadelphia in August. The resolution concerned the current structure of the suspension and withdrawal process and how it can
impact a council’s recruiting efforts.
Brother Rick Bose presented an update on the Two Hearts Grotto project at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish.
A roundtable at St. William Church in Williamstown, KY is being explored for development opportunities.
