The Connolly 6mm Biscuit Plate, on average, were found to handle a 76.6(kN) force with a <|mm (0.73mm) deflection before reaching failure point. The Connolly 10mm Biscuit Plate, on average, were approximated to handle a 105.38(kN) force with a 0.65mm deflection before reaching failure point.

Resulting data from these tests indicate that the Australian designed & manufactured Connolly Biscuit Plate Dowel System has a high load support factor and minimal deflection rate. This qualifies the product as high quality and will therefore ensure that the use of this product will result in an optimal quality of work for the end user.

Resulting testings data and a “Finite Element Analysis” indicates that the Biscuit Plate System has a load support and minimal deflection rate that qualifies this product as high quality.


The maximum stress in the steel plate dowel occurs at a point 5mm inward from the edge of the concrete and has a maximum principal magnitude of 120.5 MPa (Von Mises stress of 116.6 MPa).

This stress is mostly due to bending and would increase as the gap between the slabs also increases.

Step 1: After pour and removal of formwork, biscuit sleeves will be exposed as shown above.

Step 2: Firmly place the plate dowel into the insertion hole in the sleeve by punching through the sticker.

Biscuit Plate Systems Connolly Biscuit Plate dowel Systems (CBPS) can be used in conjunction with Connolly Plate Dowel Cradles.

Both dowel products provide the benefits of efficient load transfer, minimised differential deformation and two-directional movement capability.
