1.0 Introduction

1.1 GSC E-Ticketing System

As a business professional, I should be able to recognize the fundamental components

of information systems that encounter in the real world. I had chosen the Golden Screens

Cinema (GSC) e-ticketing system as my topic.

As what I had studied information system can use by any organization example Golden

Screen Cinema they going through their work with the combination of people, hardware,

software, communication networks such as internet, intranet and extranet, policies and

procedures that stores, retrieves, transforms and disseminates information in their

organization.

1.2 Background of Golden Screens Cinema (GSC)

One of the leading film exhibitor and distributor in Malaysia is Golden Screen Cinemas

Sdn Bhd (GSC).It is the merged entity of Golden Communications (M) Sdn Bhd (GCM) and

Cathay Cinemas Sdn Bhd (CCSB) which known as the two giants of the Malaysian film

industry and the merger has resulted in the biggest single entity in the Malaysian cinema

entertainment business. It has more than 90 years of combined involvement in the cinema

business.

GSC has total 108 screens in 18 locations where all are located in major cities and town

around the country. GSC operates the largest circuit. The locations are such as Klang Valley,

Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Sungei Petani, Seremban, Malacca, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu. Mid

Valley Mega mall has 18 screens, which is known as the largest multiplex in Asia’s is well

known for its biggest distribution of independent English films.

GSC located in major cities of the country such as Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Ipoh,

Sungei Petani, Seremban, Malacca, Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu. All the GSC located in the

shopping complex where it can attract more customers and this will be the main factor where

the visitor of the shopping complex can be exposed to the cinema’s located in most of the

shopping complex is because it can attract more customers and increase the awareness.

The main competition for Golden Screen Cinemas is the Tanjong Golden Village

(TGV), which is located throughout in few states in the country. Coliseum Cinema and

Odeon Cinema will be the two competitors for GSC but this two cinemas lack in facilities.

The missions of Golden Screen Cinema are to meet the customers’ needs and

requirements and provide good service for cinemagoers in the future and ensure that the

customers are satisfied with the services. The Visions of Golden Screen Cinema are to be a

well-known cinema service provider, to strengthen their position as market leaders, and to

provide highest quality cinema experience for moviegoers.

3.0 Process of Cinema e-Ticketing System

3.1 Input

Input typically takes the form of data entry such as recording and editing. This has been in

GSC home page, its shows their effectiveness in updating the new information about their

GSC is getting a bit complicated here. What you need is not only

have an online banking enabled account, but also GSC website

account. There is quite some terms and conditions too. First, we

must register to access our account to book online reservation

ticket. After verification, we have to log in, and then pick your

venue, movie and time according the availability.

After that, a box will open, and you have to pick your things

again. In this case, I have booked The Amazing Spider on Sunday at

2 o’clock pm. Choose your seat reservation and accept the terms

and condition. A pop up box will come up, and you fill in your

information and everything will go on well after you paid, and get

your confirmation ID must print it out ready for the collection of

your tickets.

scanning and display of menus, prompts and fill -in –the –blanks methods.

Example we need to register, so that we can access their web easily and reserve the tickets.

The registration has variety of editing activities are included to ensure the customers,

complete the information's correctly. This registration called methods of fill-in-the-blanks

format for the end users to enter data correctly into an information system.

3.2 Process

In GSC the processing system were very systematic. After we submitted the registration

the data that will undergo the process that are organize, analyze, manipulate the data thus

converting them to information for the end users. To use GSC page for ordering tickets, after

the registration success, we have to verify it and log in to accumulate our account.

This is how it will look after logged in to GSC home page. There are the selections for

the customer’s needs. Customers are applicable to choose their venue, movie and time

according to GSC availability. After that, a box will open, and click buy now n click next

special notice will pop out, go through their notice, and close the window. You will be still in

selecting ticket process by booking the ticket type and number of the tickets that you want to

book, as an example I had choose for 2 adults and 4 children’s and it shows the total pay.

The next process is seat reservation. Just click on the seat number and you also can

reselect it if you want to do so. After the reservation there, will be the conformation

acceptance. Before accepting it, you have to make sure all you enter was correct and read the

terms and condition. Last, not least, this process will end in output.

3.3 Output

GSC has transmitted various type of information for the end users to them in the output

activity. GSC has the appropriate information’s for their customers. In this case, after the

reservation, we will receive an ID conformation and, GSC need an original printed out for the

conformation and get the tickets after we reach to the place. Outputs are usually what we had

asked and the ending process called output.

3.4 Storage

Storage is the collection of data from the customers to use later. In GSC, our accounts

the data keys during the registration process such as User ID and password, name,

identification number, contact number, email etc. will be stored into the system. This is to be

useful for our next bookings; we need to log in to book the tickets that are why this

information has been stored.

The selections of movie, such as the ticket type are call-stored data, even the dates.

There is also the attractive announcement that has been stored in GSC as a member, we will

be able to get free movie treat, chance to win exclusive movie premium etc. Instead of that,

when we selecting the seats, there are the legends too show whether it already booked or still

empty which been stored automatically after reservation.

3.5 Control

Control are widely used to control the system performance.it should produce feedback

about its input, processing, output and storage activities.

In GSC registration using the same ID by other customer are unable, as well as their

email. When we are signing, up there if also certain control by the system such as the

passport number, telephone number, date of birth etc.

Apart from that GSC, also have feedback online form for the customers. In the form we

can choose the feedback category and been controlled only to the according fields. This

shows that effectiveness of the GSC clients to control and overcome any dissatisfaction from

the customers.

4.0 Benefits of using this system

This benefits were aimed and helped Golden Screen Cinema achieve and responsive in

meeting the demands of their customers and the needs of its business partner.

4.1 Save cost

GSC Company can save their money in giving out labours salary by only paying the

internet and billing cost. Customer also no need to waste the petroleum money to go

to the place and wasting time over there by waiting for the movie to start at the time.

4.2 Save time

Either then buying tickets by queue up or wasting the time, we only use 5 minutes to

book a ticket by online. This e-ticketing system can use by customer at anywhere you

are.

4.3 More accurate

GSC also giving out accurate information of their tickets, venue, date and time.

Example if you choose the venue, GSC will show the accurate time and date to buy

and confirm it.

4.4 Labour Savings

By using this system company of GSC do not need more labour to go with this

system. They only need IT Specialist to edit, update and accumulate the home page

and the database information.

4.5 Strategic relationship with supplier

GSC also giving different kind of promotion such as if the member of GSC will get

free movie treat on your birthday month, enjoy 20% bonus, win exclusive movie

premium, vouchers and etc.

5.0 Recommendation

The processing payment page always buffer and the customer will wait and only waste their

time and giving a bad impression on GSC efficiency. Therefore, I would like to recommend

that GSC have to improve in faster and quick improvement in processing.

6.0 Conclusion

This kind of understanding will help me to be a better user and developer in

information system. Rather then, I just clicking on and booking movie tickets in GSC home

page, this research has made me better understanding with their e-ticketing flow system.

Part B

1. The benefits of viewing database reports on paper are save cost we no need to have

the machine such as computer, printer or even networks etc. Paper reports can be

share in meetings. Moreover, the user can compare various items side by side in ways

that would be difficult to do on the computer, For example, manager might just

compare two reports easily. It is because in an organization, there might be lack of

computer knowledge employees.

Without paper copies, one must have a large projector or large screen to view

reports with groups such as management meetings. Besides that, it is a system where

everyone knows how to use the paper database and it is more secure way of doing

things, as it cannot be hacked.

2. The benefits of being able to interact with the data online makes easier for everyone.

For example by interact with the data online centre manager is able to view, up to date

of the balance sheet and income reports immediately online rather than waiting for

the paper reports at end of the month. Not only had it saved on costs related to

processing, printing and delivering the paper reports.

Furthermore the data the in the bank usually will be seen in charts and column but

now it can even been seen in bar charts of mismatches. Other than that it computers

also generates a lot of useful information that can really be helpful in many ways.

Moreover, using online data online can have a timeliness of results. The data can

be immediately available, and results be monitored even while the project is on-going.

Analysis and reports are available with a new timeliness.

3. Huntington employees reacted so strongly because all this while they have been

working with paper reports system. A sudden change of the system makes their life

harder because some of them are not used to computers. They prefer data on paper

reports. Some of them think that this has just doubled their workload. Where else even

the management might have issues with this because if their people are unable to do

their job the management have to do them. This makes things harder for everyone.

4. An organization should also change from fax to email service. Business can break this

vicious cycle and save piles of paper in the process by switching the fax number over

to an e-mail conversion service. New faxes will come directly to email inbox instead

of that paper spewing fail machine in the break room.

Moreover, an organization can also have an online backup and record keeping.

The data and the record will be stored in the system and changes be made to the data

when needed.
