MINISTRY OUTREACHES Baptist Children’s Home - Les Cranick, David Murphy, and Patr ick
Murphy recently donated their time tearing out and remodeling bathrooms at
the Carmi Baptist Children’s Home. This saved money for the Children’s
Home which can be used for other needs. Les and David also joined a mission
team that went to Lynch, Kentucky, this past week. They helped there with
construction work.
Beardstown Outreach - The Mission trip to Beardstown, Illinois, reached an
area that has around 11 different language dialects in the local region. The
teams from our church included the Medical Team which consisted of Dean
Serletic, Les Cranick, Ralph Walker, Cathy Wilkins, and Pastor Bob
Dickerson. Dean and Les worked on the Physical Checkups, while Ralph,
Cathy, and Pastor Bob worked on the Spiritual Checkups. The Evangelism
Team consisted of Dennis Mohr, Cindy Mohr, and Richard Palmer from our
church who went door to door in the week preceding the event and shared
evangelistic conversations with those attending the events in the park.
Although the numbers are not fully computed, the initial results were at least
50 professions of faith in Jesus Christ. There may be more when the final
results are in. People from all over the state of Illinois came to be a part of the
mission with bouncy houses, sand art, popcorn, hotdogs, live music,
giveaways, snow cones, Frisbee contests, corn hole games, children’s
physicals for school, and many other opportunities to have fun and share
Christ.
Marion Soup Kitchen - First Baptist will once again be helping out at the
Marion Soup Kitchen the week of August 5-9. A big thank you to all our
regular workers who are always so faithful to volunteer, and this summer
several of our youth have also helped out at the Soup Kitchen.
Crossover - Brothers and Sisters, Thank you for your prayers and support for
the mission to Crossover Birmingham, Alabama, in early June. During the
week before the main event I served with students from our SBC theological
seminaries to share the Gospel of our Lord on the streets. On Crossover
Saturday, the main event, Southern Baptists from across the nation joined
together for the purpose of sharing the Gospel in Birmingham. The result?
Thousands of seeds were planted and a harvest of 364 souls was reaped to the
Glory of the Lord! Until Jesus Comes, Dennis Mohr
