• Birr is located at the centre of Ireland.

• The hottest and coldest temperature are recorded here.

• Birr is one of the finest Georgian towns in Ireland

• There is a primary school and a secondary that caters for wide choice of subjects.

• Every year Vintage Week is held on 15th - Friday 22nd August.

• During the Parade on Sunday 12 August to this day it has it has not rained on this day.

• There was a distillery in Birr but now its closed

it comes to hurling for a small town.

• The grounds of the castle is very enjoyably during the summer months for walking.• It has woods, forests, river, lake and water.• Many families, students and tourists come here.

PeoplePeople• Birr is a home for many different

nationality that live here:

• British, Romania, African, Indian,

• French, polish, Lithuanian and also us Irish.

• We are happy to see all these different cultures coming to such a small town.

• Lot of the Lithuanian people need to integrate into the community other then forming there own groups.

People People

• No person in Birr died of hungry.

• The people of Birr were the only people that didn’t starve during the famine.

• The Rosse family employed them and paid them 20C a day.

• There is a castle called Leap Castle which is believed to be haunted Castle in Birr, Ireland and Europe. ( the castle is outside birr)

• The castle is occupied

• now with a family.

What’s in Birr. What’s in Birr.

• We have the garden of the castle open to people, the rivers for fresh water fishing, local clubs, slieve bloom mountains for walking( near Birr), the bog, 8 miles from River Shannon,( largest River in the British isle.

• We are welcoming people and we welcome people from all over the world.

• The First telegram in 1853 was send in Ireland was from Birr To Dublin.

• The person to be killed by a car was in Birr. (the person fell out of the car)

• The third Earl of Rosse invented the largest telescope in Birr.
