It’s unjust treatment of Negroes in the courts is notorious. There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in Birmingham than in any other city. ‘’

How successful was the protest in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963?

The protest in Birmingham, Alabama was successful to an extent. It was successful because the media became involved and publicised the event across the world. It also put pressure on JFK to act against segregation. In addition, many local businesses desegregated. However, MLK was criticised for using children in the protest. The KKK also reacted to desegregation by rioting against businesses. Protestors had to live with the constant fear of reprisals.
