In 2008 the afliation between sole manufacturer A.I.Schulze Chemotechnische Fabrik e.K. and the sales andlogistics agency D. Bartkowiak Vertriebs- und Logistikzen-trum was reformed into a new centre of operations.

This merger allowed the group of companies to secure alarge share of the global market and, with General Agen-cies for over 35 countries, it is one of the market leaderstoday in professional sealing technology.

The group of companies supplies operators and manu-facturers of steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors,pumps, housings and anged joints, for example, with itsspecial product,BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt, which is a single-componentsealing compound and is suitable for applications in in-dustry where high temperatures combine with pressure onsmooth sealing faces (parting lines) to exert supreme de-mands on the quality of sealants.

The adhesion on sealing surfaces and butt joints is so highthat a one hundred percent seal is guaranteed even forpressures up to 250 bar.

The pressure resistance for anges without sealing rings

is guaranteed up to 450 bar, and even up to 550 barforscrew joints.

To ensure the high quality of our products and servicesand to continually improve our organisation, we regularlyperform in-house audits to make sure that our companymeets the requirements of the DIN ENISO 9001 quality standard to which our company is certi-ed.


BIRKOSIT Service life

When used in accordance with instructions and withregular servicing as required for steam and gas tur-

bines, we guarantee a service life of10 years for useon machined sealing surfaces (butt joints) with anishing accuracy of Ra = 0.8 m to 1.2 m as wellas incidences of shallow, trough-like corrosion or erosi-on defects at these sealing surfaces of 0.2 mm. Forhigh-pressure turbines (H), medium-pressure turbines(M) and low-pressure turbines (L) we guarantee that theproduct will withstand hot steam and hot air, hot andcold water, light fuel oils and lubricants as well as crudeoil and natural gas up to 900 C and withstand pressu-re up to 250 bar.

Product Information - MACHINING GUIDELINES

Machining guidelines for sealing turbines and turbosets ofour customers using the BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt productOn the following turbine types

- Steam turbines- Gas turbines

and

- Turbosets

Type High-Pressure Turbine (HPT)

- The butt joints in high-pressure turbines comprise twosealing strips with a continuous sealing surface

- There is one inner and one outer sealing strip

- Only the inner sealing strip is load-bearing (Internal strip)


Type Medium-Pressure Turbine (MPT), Low-Pres-sure Turbine (LPT)

- The butt joints in medium-pressure turbines (MPT)and low-pressure turbines (LPT) comprise one continuous sealing surface with centered cylindrical holes

- The inner sealing area of the butt joints is load-bearingas standard up to the commencement of the cylinderbores

Application area, metal-to-metal joints

BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitthas been used for 50 years

on Siemens turbines (product development 1952 with Sie-mens). Without the additional sealing of individual pressu-re areas using BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt the productionimprecisions or the distortion under loads are no longerevened out, which means that the turbine areas in the indi-vidual pressure areas become permeable under pressure.This means the turbine loses power, and can even lead to

unplanned reconditioning.BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt is formulated to be practicallyinert in its standard applications in steam and gas turbines.It is, therefore, resistant to exposure to hot air, steam, wa-ter, light fuel oils and lubricants. By implication, it should beresistant to crude oil and natural gas.
