Welcome to the spring 2019 issue of Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre programs and services. Every year the spring message is, perhaps, the most difficult message to write. It is difficult because is usually being written on a very cold, snowy and dull day. Thus when I began to write about the spring programmes and activities becomes an act of imagination. This time is not the case. These are exciting times in BBNC from announcing all the new things happening and will be happening in the spring of 2019 at BBNC to share with you our commitment to do the best of we can be. It is no longer an act of imagination. It is an information-sharing platform. Spring, the time of renewal, the time reminds us of the endless cycle of life and hope, hope that at the end everything will be ok. Spring here at BBNC is full of news and challenges. All of them exiting! The new season starts with an update and a new... brand new website. If you haven’t seen it go and visit www.bbnc.ca Thanks to the tireless work, volunteer work I may add, of a board member, Joanne Davidson, a parent of our EarlyON program, Sunbal Cheema, our new Communication and Social Media Support staff Kate Brutto and the commitment of our Manager of Community Engagement Linda Curley. The new website has arrived and is up and running. Another no less exiting news and perhaps the most anticipated wishes from a large portion of our membership is the ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM… There is a common expression that said: “Victory has a hundred fathers and defeat is an orphan (La victoria trova cento padri, a nessuno vuole riconoscere l'insuccesso) popularized by President John F Kennedy it was originated with Italian diplomat, Count Galeazzo Ciano (1903-1944).

There is already a victory. The new ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM, however does has one leader (mother) and that is Linda Curley. She is the person who advocated for it and has been and is working tirelessly to be ready for the spring registration. Also it is important to acknowledge and recognize the role of Shaunette Tomlinson our reception/financial assistance. Shaunette has taken the significant lead role in the set up of the system and working very closely with our contacts at RecDesk. In addition, Anita Persaud, our evening support, Lisa Jardine our Youth Development Coordinator, Asiya Motala our EarlyOn Program Coordinator and Camille Evans our SHARE365 Support worker who have been working with Linda and Shaunette to be ready for the registration. We will provide more information regarding how to access the system and how to register for programs. On other news, we have been very successful re-igniting our Youth Program with the leadership of Lisa Jardine and the partnership in some activities are with TCAT and PF&R CotT e.g. the amazing celebration of Black History Month. The SHARE365 Program is consolidating the commitment to relief and reduction of poverty to that effect we submitted a funding request to Ontario Trillium Foundation to support our initiative. Nursery School is leading on early child education thanks to our committed staff and the trust of the parents. Finally I would like to remind you that BBNC is your centre. Your participation in the life of BBNC is very important. Thank you and Welcome spring Enrique Robert
