ORC modules are available from 500 KWe to 5 MWe. AQYLON is proud to offer either the ORC alone or a complete turnkey biomass power plant, with or without cogeneration. Our Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology is the best solution for small and medium biomass power plants.

Available with cogenerationAQYLON biomass power plants can be adapted to include a cogeneration system, generating low temperature heat (60-100 °C) to be used for a variety of purposes. District heating networks, greenhouses and industrial processes requiring heat can all minimize costs through cogeneration.

ORC power plantsfor biomass application

ORC technology avoids corrosion issues and turbine wear associated with steam turbines - such as blade erosion and high speed operation - resulting in low maintenance costs. Our ORC modules can rapidly ramp up to match changing power needs, from 30% up to 120% of nominal capacity. Rugged design ensures a life expectancy of over 25 years.

Create value from your biomass source

• If your biomass power plant is in need of retrofitting, AQYLON can install an ORC power module that will increase the efficiency of your plant and reduce operating costs.

• If you produce biomass as a byproduct of your operations, AQYLON can build a small power plant to convert this biomass to electricity. This investment will replace the cost of disposing of biomass byproducts with profits from electricity sales.

• If there is the potential to develop a biomass source, AQYLON will partner with a company specialized in biomass supply chains in order to ensure a reliable energy supply and build a power plant.

Any biomass source can be valorized. AQYLON can build small power plants that produce electricity from a wide range of materials such as:

• Wood waste from sawmills

• Biomass by products from coffee, cacao, cotton, or palm plantations

• Rice straw or other agricultural byproducts

• Woodchips

If a factory can provide AQYLON with a biomass source, we can produce electricity and sell it to the factory at a preferential tariff.

Our product range includes three versions:

L version for low temperatures from 85°C to 120°C, such as the ATM-500LM version for medium temperatures from 120°C to 220°C, such as the ATM-500MH version for high temperatures from 260°C to 330°C, such as the ATM-500H

This chart shows water cooled solutions. We also propose direct condensed solutions in which coolers directly condense theworking fluid. We strongly recommend direct condensed solutions for the L range. Contact us for further information.

Biomass Power Plants

If there is no will or capacity to invest in an ORC solution, AQYLON offers a fully financed solution where all costs and risks associated with our ORC modules are assumed by external investors. In exchange, the client provides AQYLON with a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The client agrees to purchase electricity produced by AQYLON’s ORC modules at a price that is 5 – 30% below the plant electricity price or plant generation cost. At the end of the PPA period, the client can renew the PPA or purchase AQYLON’s ORC modules at a greatly reduced price.

Our Project Financing Model:

• Creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that owns the solution

• Sale of electricity or heat at an offtake price guaranteed for the long term

• Any performance risks are carried by the SPV

• No impact on the balance sheet of the client (“Zero Capex/Opex”)

• Partitioning of the added value between the client and the investors

• This arrangement allows projects with longer payback times to be financed

There are three possibilities at the end of a 7-10 year PPA contract:

1) There is no contract renewal: The SPV that owns the project has 6 months to take back its equipment.

2) The PPA is renewed: New electricity pricing and conditions will be determined for the renewal period. The minimum contract renewal period is 5 years.

3) Buyback option: The customer can purchase the ORC equipment at a greatly reduced price. It is also possible to acquire the ORC solution before the end of the PPA.

A wide range of financing solutions

If a power plant can provide AQYLON with a hot exhaust stream, we can produce electricity and sell it to the plant at preferential pricing.

AQYLON designs, manufactures and installs complete ORC solutions (Organic Rankine Cycle) for the production of electricity from high temperature heat sources, at a competitive price. AQYLON proposes 4 standard ORC sizes: 500 to 5000kWe. Targeted applications include recovery of waste heat from engines, recovery of industrial waste heat, and biomass power plants. AQYLON also proposes custom-made ORC solutions for different ORC sizes to address wide temperature ranges, starting at 90°C, for applications such as geothermal and solar thermal sources.

AQYLON offers two business models. Customers may invest through the usual product purchasing process. For customers not willing to invest, we have a “ZERO CAPEX/ OPEX” option with turnkey solutions fully financed with the sale of the producedelectricity, at a lower price than the grid (PPA).
