Why Biomass Gasification?


Updraft:The gas is generally laden with excessive tar. Themode is mainly suited for thermal applications,though it has been used for power generation as well(Also known as Counter-Current).

Downdraft:Relatively cleaner gas; ideally suited for powergeneration (Also known as Co-Current).

Highlights

A gas cooler is installed where gas is cooled to about 11 degrees Celsius. Chilled water

for the cooler is taken from an ice factory in the same compound.

The plant had completed 17034 hrs. of operation as on 02/06/09

Engine regularly tested by Cummins and Kirloskar. No gasifier related problem till

date.

Engine Oil was being changed after 350 hrs in diesel operation. After testing with gas,

Cummins service dealer advised oil change after 400 hrs.

CFA has been disbursed by MNRE

This is one of the most efficiently operated and maintained system in West Bengal.
