A non metallic element that can be in different forms, usually a yellow solid, burns in only blue flame, and suffocating odor.

It is found in proteins, amino acid cysteine, enzymes, and gives a distinctive order to many substances.

What is sulfur?

Page 3: Biogeochemical: Sulfur Cycle

Sulfur cycle steps:oSulfur is released into atmosphere as sulfur

dioxide by volcanic eruptions, bacterial-by-product sea spray releases, human activity of burning fossil fuels.

o dissolves in atmospheres to sulfuric acidoThe sulfuric acid falls back to earth through rain

in terrestrial & aquatic.oSulfur falls to bottom of ocean and geological

activity

In the process, acid precipitation can occur.
