Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia (R&IC PA), with its headquarters in Lodz, was founded and started it’s activity on the 22nd April 1996.

Today, the R&IC PA is one of leading research institutions in Poland that render assistance in the processes of sustainable development in Poland. One of the most important advantages of our projects is engaging a lot of different actors — administration, both at national and local level, NGOs, entrepreneurs, high schools and the media.

ABOUT

Pro-Akademia was found on three cornerstones:

Trainnings and consulting

International cooperation

Corporate social responsibility

We share our knowledge and experience in the National System of Services for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Our experts provide a wide range of training schemes and advisory services both for SMEs and public bodies. Preponderance of our offer is free of charge thanks to the part-financing by the public funds.

Our activities focus on four key policy areas: implementation of territorial cooperation projects aimed at entrepreneurship development and environment protection, support to development of Polish exports, development aid and actions for the benefit of the Poles abroad. We are a member of the National Polish NGO platform - 'Grupa Zagranica'.

We promote Corporate Social Responsibility, a conception of constructing strategies of entrepreneurs on the basis of social dialogue and sustainable development rules. Our experience concentrate not only on supporting entrepreneurship, but on activating and integrating local communities and environment protection.

BIOENERGY FOR THE REGION CLUSTER

Bioenergy for the Region Cluster aims to achieve its purposes through: • complex solution of issues concerning the regulation of the

biomass market in Central Poland, in particular the methods of collection, processing and use of biomass, waste and especially food waste as a RES;

• integration of members of the Cluster - businesses, researchers and local authorities in order to increase the share of solar and wind energy in the energy balance of the Region;

• educational and information activities, promoting the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Cluster Bioenergy for the Region is an open collaborative initiative, gathering: • 46 enterprises, • 16 universities and scientific research institutes, • 6 units of local government, • 7 business support institutions, active in the field of RES.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Project aims to design and construct modern and innovative building using newest technologies in the field of renewable energy sources. Therefore it will serve as example and will fulfill educational aspects. Apart of those building will serve as a location of Technology Transfer Centre for Renewable Energy Sources

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Within centre – 3 main laboratories (connected with smart specialization of Lodz Region) • Biogas and biomas laboratory • Wind energy laboratory • PV/solar laboratory • Textronics laboratory

BIOMAS AND BIOGAS LABORATORY

• Research on the technologies of biogas prodcution from waste • Research on the technology and equipment for the production of biogas • Research on the process of biomass torrefecation • Research on energy crops in relation to specific soil conditions • Research on the development of efficient technologies and equipment for

harvesting and processing of biomass

WIND ENERGY LABORATORY LABORATORY

• Research on micro wind turbine • Testing of aerodynamics • Construction of the weather station, which will carry out climate research,

study of wind, solar radiation

SMART SPECIALISATION

….is a policy framework combining industrial, educational and innovation policies

(including their design, implementation, and evaluation) that promote new growth opportunities.

The smart specialisation approach suggests that countries or regions should identify and select a limited

number of priority areas for knowledge-based investments, focusing on a region's strengths and

comparative advantages

SMART SPECIALISATION – IN LODZ REGION

• Textile and clothing industry • Energy – with emphasis on RES • Agriculture and food processing • Production of building materials • BPO, R+D • Logistics • Furniture industry • Medicine, pharmacy • Creative industry

AREAS OF COOPERATION

Renewable Energy Sources Smart Textiles

• Production and development of PV modules

• Flexible PV modules • Micro wind turbines • Micro biogas power plants • Development of new waste

management technologies • Efficient transport • E-mobility

• Printed electronics • Smart fabrics • Flexible PV modules for textiles • Energy storage technologies • Smart circuits • Live signs monitoring

PATENTS

• The heating and cooling system of tri-generation from RES in a complex of buildings

connected by an intelligent micro-gird,

• The hybrid solar system,

• The hybrid system for heat and power from straw, solar and wind energy
