• The Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking is a new

€3.7 billion Public-Private Partnership between

the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium.

• Operating under Horizon 2020, it is driven by the

Vision and Strategic Innovation and Research

Agenda (SIRA) developed by the industry.

• A major public and private effort

• €3.7 billion investments in bio-based

innovation from 2014-2020;

• €975 million of EU funds (Horizon 2020) and €2.7

billion of private investments

• Leveraging capital markets and additional private

and public funds (e.g. synergies with EU Structural

Funds).

• SPRING – Sustainable Processes and Resources for Innovation

and National Growth is a non-profit Association, born in 2012 in

response to the Call of MIUR for the Development and

Strengthening of National Technological Clusters

• It is proposed as representative and promoter of the national

chemical industry from renewable sources, stimulating actions of

research, demonstratives of transfer technological divulgation and

training in constant dialogue with the stakeholders of the local

area (agricultural, industrial, institutional and no profit spheres).
